The Montgomery Bus boycott was a major event in the Civil rights movement. it took place in Montgomery, Alabama where the city buses were segregated and black passengers were required by law to sit in the back of the bus. On December 1st, 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person. She was later arrested. This led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott with around 40,000 black people participating. This Boycott lasted 381 days and finally on November 13, 1956 the U.S. supreme court decided to desegregate the city buses.

Sometimes people make a decision in their head and that clouds their judgement and they act according to that decision. When people are angry about something or strongly believe in something they tend to act out without thinking and without fear.

I think that so many people were too scared to stand up for what was right and afraid of the consequences that would follow. After seeing what Rose Parks did they felt empowered to stand up and to join to fight for what was right.

If Rosa Parks gave up her seat the discrimination of black people would probably have continued for a little longer until eventually some else started a movement.

One tenet of Democracy this relates to is rights because this event pushed law people to get rid of the law that black people have to sit in the back of the bus. This was a step towards equal rights for everyone. This also relates to the tenet Democracy because they boycotted the busses(protest) which is a form of speech. This is allowed because we are a Democracy.
