The fish will be able to survive extreme cold waters and continue to develop. This will help the genetically modified fish to survive harsh elements and produce growth hormones all year. The genes that are inserted are from other fish such as Chinook Salmon and Ocean Pout, so it is safe for human consumption. However, it might not help humans that significantly, so there is not a dire need to produce GM salmon.
