The central idea of "Couldn't Imagine wanting to Dye my hair Blond." is that you shouldn't be embarrassed of your ethnicity/ background. Being different is ok and unique. For instance, in the beginning of the story, She stated, "My hair and eyes, instead of being blond and blue like all of my Czech classmates', were chocolate and espresso. My last name had a "z" in it, and my grandmother called me "mija." By the time I was in grade school, the teasing began, and I was hurt and confused. Didn't all grandmothers call their grandchildren "mija"? Why did everyone except me have blue eyes?" This shows how she was confused and hurt because her classmates were teasing her for not having blonde hair and blue eyes. But once she got older she realized "Looking back, I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blond to feel better about myself. The blond girls are unique in their own way, but diversity makes the world go round. I absolutely love being different and not walking the same path as everyone else." Overall, this shows how she came over her insecurities, and learned how to be proud of her insecurities.

The central idea of "I Couldn't Imagine wanting to Dye my hair Blond" is that being different is fine and you should be proud of your culture and embracing it wont hurt you. Being ashamed of yourself would only hurt more. Being different is very unique and something you should be proud of. In the passage it states "Time has a way of healing things...as I have matured, I have learned not to be ashamed of my ethnicity. Instead of hiding who I really am, I have embraced my Mexican heritage and have become proud of it." This shows that Mendoza realized that she shouldn't be ashamed of her own culture and should embrace it and become proud of it. In the text it also says "Finding out about the many opportunities that are available to students of Hispanic descent has motivated me even more to delve deeper into my culture". This explains that Mendoza has embraced her own culture and wants to learn more about her culture. Being different can make you unique in any way, and it is something you should be proud of.

I felt I was stuck somewhere in the middle of my siblings, stuck in the middle of two cultures, and not accepted by either." " My other family members didn’t seem to have any trouble fitting in."

The central idea of "I Couldnt Imagine Wanting to Dye My Hair Blond" is that you should be proud of the way you are and where you came from. When Christina Mendoza was young, she let her insecurities get to her so she started to hate herself for looking different. But once she got older she started to know that being different is good. In the text it states "Looking back, I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blond to feel better. The blond girls are unique in their own ways , but diversity makes the world go round." So this shows how Mendoza, once she started to like her uniqueness she didn't want to look like the others. In the text it also says "I absolutely love being different and not walking the same path as everyone else." This shows that now she knows being different is good and she wouldn't want to look like the others now. As you can see this is the central idea for "I Couldn't Imagine Wanting to Dye My Hair Blond."

The central idea of "I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blonde" is that you need to embrace yourself. Christina Mendoza had to learn this lesson. In the text Mendoza states, "My hair my eyes instead of being blond and blue like all of all Czech classmates; were chocolate and espresso" this is how Mendoza is different from the other people. she compared herself to her other classmates and viewed herself as less important than them. She says "I didn't just wake up one morning and think, "I'm proud to be Hispanic, " I didn't just wake up one morning and think, "I'm proud to be Hispanic," but as I have matured, I have learned not to be ashamed of my ethnicity. Instead of hiding who I really am, I have embraced my Mexican heritage and have become proud of it." This shows the central idea of the article.

The central idea of "I Couldn't Imagine Wanting to Bye My Hair Blonde" by Christina Mendoza, is that the narrator wanted us to remember that we should embrace our differences instead of hiding them away. For example, she states that her "hair and eyes were espresso and chocolate" while everyone had blonde hair and blue eyes. She also gave reasons why her family members were accepted despite most of them looking Mexican. For example, in paragraph 3, she states that her “father’s ethnicity is well respected. He is the only doctor within a 50-mile radius that can speak Spanish.” and that her "little brother received the recessive genes (fair skin, blue eyes), so he looks like everyone else in Seymour” This shows the central idea the Mendoza is trying to convey.

The central idea of "I couldn't Imagine dying My Hair blond" is Looking or acting differently doesn't mean you should be ashamed of yourself. In paragraph 1, it states "my hair and eyes, instead of being blond and blue like my Czech classmates; were chocolate and expresso. my last name had a "z" in it,...". This quote states that because her hair and eye color were different from her classmates, she was insecure. Adding on, she also states in paragraph 5, that "...I absolutely love being different and not walking the same path as everyone else". In this paragraph, she states that as she grew up she realized that being different isn't something to be ashamed of and that you should be proud of who you are and your culture. she explains throughout the story, that even if you look like everybody around you and if you don't look like everybody around you doesn't mean that you shouldn't be proud of yourself and should bring yourself down.

The central idea of "I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blond" was that the author wanted us to know that we don't necessarily have to look a like to others to fit in with everyone else. Also she additionally wanted us to know that it's ok to show uniqueness, and diversity. For example in the essay, the author states "My hair and eyes, instead of being blond and blue like all of my Czech classmates', were chocolate and espresso." stating that she thought that the way her Czech classmates looked was the standards she needed to be even thought they were just born that way and didn't want to change and look like the other girls in there class. For all that Christina knows they might want to change and look alike to her. Towards the end of the essay she learned to embrace her culture and ethnicity as she stated " I didn't just wake up one morning and think, "I'm proud to be Hispanic," but as I have matured, I have learned not to be ashamed of my ethnicity. Instead of hiding who I really am, I have embraced my Mexican heritage and have become proud of it. Finding out about the many opportunities that are available to students of Hispanic descent has motivated me even more to delve deeper into my culture." Therefore the central idea of "ICIWTDMHB" was that we don't necessarily have to look a like to others to fit in with everyone else.

The text states "My hair and eyes, instead of being blond and blue like all of my Czech classmates', were chocolate and espresso." In this quote, she is comparing herself to her classmates, and feels like because she doesn't look like the others, she doesn't match up to the standards made up in her head. The text also states "My other family members didn't seem to have any trouble fitting in. My father's ethnicity is well respected. He is the only doctor within a fifty-mile radius who can speak Spanish. My sister was the beauty queen of our town—her sleek, glossy hair and olive complexion were the envy of every girl. It is not a flaw that you were born different it is a blessing. In the text Mendoza says more than once that she " looks and acts different than everyone in her community" this shows why she viewed her differences as flaws. Later on she says " Looking back I couldn't imagine wanting to die my hair blond to feel better about myself" this shows she finally realized that being different was what made life worth living....I mean who would want to live in a world were everything was colorless.

This is the central idea because in the beginning of the story Christina was really ashamed of her culture because other kids would tease her about how different she looked. In paragraph
1 it states “My hair and eyes instead of being blond and blue like all of my Czech classmates’, were chocolate and espresso.” Since she looked different and was different she was teased by the other children. Later on in the story Christina Mendoza realized that she should be proud of who she is and where she’s from, like she stated in paragraph 5 “Diversity makes the world go round.” without diversity what would this world even be?

The central idea of "I couldn't imagine wanting to dye my hair blonde" is that you should be proud of your culture and how you look like. In the text, the girl described her hair and eyes as chocolate and expresso because it was brown and everyone else had fair skin and blonde hair and blue eyes. Also, in the text, it states "My other family members didn't seem to have any trouble fitting in. My father's ethnicity is well respected. He is the only doctor within a fifty-mile radius who can speak Spanish. My sister was the beauty queen of our town—her sleek, glossy hair and olive complexion were the envy of every girl. My little brother received the recessive genes (fair skin, blue eyes), so he looks like everyone else in Seymour. I felt I was stuck somewhere in the middle of my siblings, stuck in the middle of two cultures, and not accepted by either.” This shows that she didn't feel like she fit in and no one in her family would understand how she felt.
