solution: Rudi got what he wanted by being a guide but being a guide to his master and Teo got what he wanted because he told Rudi the story about his dad saving someone and trusts him to his guide now.

Who are the characters and what do we know about them so far?
The character's are Rudi  and teo the old man. What we know about them is that Rudi want to learn how to climb so he asks teo to teach him. but teo isn't sure if it's something you can teach rather by living and growing. teo think's climbing the big mountain can not  cimb it alone. he tell's him that guid mean's to lead other's.  to help other's rudi is inexperienced he was thinking of himself only not other's. selfishness. He want's to be a mountain climber guide

Based on the inner thoughts and actions of the character, how is our understanding of them deepening?
Rudi does not know anything about  his father so teo tell's him how  his father teo and sir edward went  climbing they heard loud noises the rck's on the mountains where coming down teo and his father were not hurt but sir edward broke his leg so teo went back to the villages but  his father stayed with sir edward and they died. So  teo is telling him about his father because he want's him to know that rudi's father is kind , never giving up and teach him to not be selfish. think about other's. He wasn't selfish the father

solution :  hes learning how to not be selfish but hasn't yet.  he learned that the reason why his father died  wasn't because a mountain was too steep. He didn't  die for conquest or for glory.he strong enough to go on up, or to go down. But he would not go, because he would not leave his client. He was thinking, not of himself, but of another.  he was freezing to death, his father gave up his life to save his clint by  keeping another man warm.”  rudi learned to not be selfish to be kind and care for other people.
