My name is Charlize Ygerny L. Mago. But many call me either Eggy (my family), though I am widely known as Yang-ba! This August 28, I turn 17! My lucky number is 8, because I was born on 8/28/2008, premature by 8 months, and my father had me when he was 28. Cool, right?

My mother is of Chinese-Muslim descent, and my father, of full Filipino. Awesome :)

I can be considered someone who is well-versed in skills related to art. Writing, drawing, painting, clay sculpting, wood-carving, singing, sewing / needlework, cooking and baking. I enjoy making gifts for people and discovering new things.

Besides those, I also enjoy anagramming. Puzzle games entertain me lots. One look over my shoulder, you will see I am either solving the daily wordle or playing mahjong on my phone. If not any of those? Probably reading or writing, or even listening to an audiobook.

1. What was your Personality Type according to the 16-Personalities Test (MBTI-Inspired Test)? Do you agree with the result? Why or why not?

I got INTP-A, known as the "Logician" type — analytical, curious, and independent. I agree with the result because I often enjoy thinking deeply, questioning norms, and exploring ideas more than following routines. While I may not always show emotions outwardly, I care deeply about the things that matter to me.

2. How can your Personality Type help you become a person with and for others?
As an INTP-A, I bring fresh perspectives and creative problem-solving to the table, often helping others think in new ways. My independence allows me to support others without expecting anything in return, and my curiosity helps me understand people beyond the surface. Even if I’m not the most emotionally expressive, I strive to be thoughtful, fair, and genuine in how I relate to others.

1. When I encounter conflict, I try to resolve it peacefully by finding a solution both parties can agree on. If that’s not possible, I defend myself appropriately. When the conflict involves a situation rather than another person, I focus on finding the next best solution.

2. When I feel anxious or nervous, it helps me to rest alone, do art, or talk to someone dear to me. Sometimes, simply spending quiet time with myself is enough to help me recover.

3. I find it challenging to manage my emotions when I’m angry or feel wronged. These emotions often lead to anxiety and overthinking, which then push me to overwork in order to feel in control.

4. When someone shares their feelings with me, I feel honored that they trust me enough to open up. I feel especially fulfilled when they ask for help or advice—knowing they see me as someone safe and capable.

5. One way I practice empathy is by putting myself completely in the other person’s shoes. I find this easy to do because I’ve experienced many of the same struggles others go through.

6. A time when I recognized someone else's emotions was when they felt lonely, unpicked, and dismissed. Many of the friends I have now are people I reached out to because I empathized with their loneliness and didn’t want them to feel that way.

7. Emotional intelligence helps me become aware of when my emotions are not only affecting how I interact with others, but also harming how I feel about myself.

8. I can improve my emotional regulation by developing skills such as mindfulness, empathy, and cognitive reappraisal—looking at situations from a new perspective to manage emotions better.

9. I think emotional intelligence is important because it helps us understand, empathize, and connect with one another despite our differences—and sometimes because of those differences.

10. I believe that developing emotional intelligence leads to better relationships, improved communication, and more prosocial behavior.

Reflection Question

Think of a time when you went through something difficult. How did your emotions affect the situation, and how did you manage them?
I went through bullying—and sometimes still do. Naturally, finding out about it didn't lessen the pain; I still felt self-hatred, injustice, sadness, and especially anger. I’ve managed and continue to manage these emotions by reminding myself not to reflect the same negativity onto others. Instead, I choose to pray for those who hurt me, hoping they’ll come to recognize their wrongdoings and heal from whatever pain causes them to act that way.

How did creating this mind map help you reflect on your own learning process and how you can better care for your growth as a whole person (cura personalis)?
Creating the mind map helped me see the bigger picture of who I am—my strengths, struggles, and the habits that shape me. It made me more aware of how I can care for my growth not just academically, but also emotionally and creatively. Being able to visualize things in this way gave me clarity and direction.

In what ways can you apply what you discovered about your thinking style to pursue excellence (magis) in your daily study habits and responsibilities as an Atenean?
Understanding my thinking style lets me study in ways that feel more natural and effective, especially through visual or creative methods.

1. Was the subject Personal Development helpful for you? How did this subject help you know yourself more?

Personal Development helped me understand my habits, thoughts, and emotions more clearly. It gave me space to reflect on why I behave the way I do and what values matter most to me. Because of that, I became more aware of my strengths and the areas I still need to improve. Overall, it helped me form a clearer picture of who I am and who I want to become.

2. What were your key takeaways from the subject?

One important takeaway was that growth is a continuous process rather than something that happens instantly. I also learned that self-awareness and emotional regulation are skills that can be developed over time. Another key lesson was that understanding yourself helps you form healthier relationships with others. Overall, the subject taught me the value of taking small but meaningful steps toward self-improvement.

3. What two topics were your favorites and why?

My two favorite topics were Biology and CST. Biology stood out to me because I have always seen biology through a lens of romance, in a way. CST was also one of my favorites because the teacher created a super fun and engaging environment. Both subjects were memorable mainly because the teachers made the learning experience enjoyable.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE?

My beautiful, eternally cherished family.

1. In what way is the person you posted special to you? Can you say that you love them?

The people in the picture I presented are indeed very special to me–and I can, without a single speck of doubt in my heart, say that I love them all very much (except the face of whom I have DRAWN out which is my sister’s traitorous, disloyal boyfriend).

2. What lessons did you learn from them about love and relationships in general?

They taught me that real love is shown in small, consistent actions; the everyday

patience, support, and honesty that build trust over time. I also learned that love isn’t

perfect, but it grows stronger when people choose each other even on hard days.

3. What type of love according to Robert Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love do you think you have with the people in the picture? Why can you say so?

With my siblings, it’s companionate love, because our bond is built on deep affection,

shared memories, and a sense of lifelong commitment. With my boyfriend, it leans

toward consummate love, since we have intimacy, commitment, and a connection that feels both emotional and romantic.

4. What emotions do you usually feel when you are with the people in the picture?

I usually feel safe, understood, and genuinely happy when I’m with them. There’s a kind of comfort and belonging that makes everything feel lighter. A belonging that you will never feel anywhere else if not within your trusted family.

5. How were they able to influence you to be the person that you are now?

My siblings shaped the way I care for others, teaching me responsibility, patience, andhow to be supportive. My boyfriend helped me grow emotionally by encouraging

honesty, confidence, and choosing love that feels healthy and mutual.
