Quill and Erik were companions that faced unkown challenges in the wilderness. I picked companions because Quill and Erik depended on each other. I also chose the word unknown since Erik didn`t know what would happen to him and Quill. I selected the word challenges because Erik and Quill had to face fast changing weathers, find food to eat, and clean water for drinking. Wilderness was selected because wilderness means, an uninhabited region, which is just like the prairie that Erik ran away with Quill to.
Quill and Erik had to survive with nature, in a prairie in North Dakota because his grandparents kept secrets that stressed Erik out. I chose prarie and North Dakota since Erik ran away with Quill out in a prarie in North Dakota. The word nature was selected because Erik and Quill depended on nature to camouflage him and Quill from being discovered. The word secret was picked because the secrets his grandparents kept drove Erik to run away with Quill.

Wild Life, by Cynthia Defelice, is a fictional adventure book I would recommend for readers who enjoy a story about survival with man`s best friend, the dog. It is an adventure book because Erik and Quill met unknown challenges in the wilderness of North Dakota`s prarie. I felt the author did a good job of making me feel like iwas there because she described how hardit was for Erik and Quill to survive on thier own. The author also wrote a gross scene on gutting a pheasant. The main characters, Erik and Quill, are believable becase they struggled to survive in the prairie just like an ordinary boy with his dog. i do not know anyone like them because I don`t know anyone who hunts. I don`t think the author adequately described Erik and Quill because she barely includes what they looked like.
I would give this book a thumbs up because i felt like the book was very interesting and fascinating. It taught me what a boy and his dog could achieve on their own with hard work. I also enjoyed this story because i`ve always wanted to go hunting. This book was similar to Letters From Wolfie by Patti Sherlock because the boys from both books loved their dogs and wanted to be with them. The distressing part of the story was when Erik`s parents were deployed to Iraq for the army. I could never imagine living on my own without my parents to provide for me.
