<title>One of the most fantastic days of my trip to Japan, was my visit to Mt. Fuji. For centuries, people of Japan have worshiped this sacred mountain. Since we were in Tokyo, we decided to go by train to Osaka. Traveling in a Japanese train was very different than an American train. Japan has high speed trains (bullet trains) called shinkansen (新幹線) . We knew we had to arrive at the train station early because these trains are known for their punctuality. They travel at speeds of up to 320/km hour. The ride is so smooth I hardly notice the movement. One thing I noticed was how quiet and polite everyone is on the train. You do not hear anyone’s music or see small children running up and down the aisles. It took about 45 minutes and the conductor announced that we had reached Shin-Fuji Station. We gathered up all of our belongings and left the train.Along with about 25 other tourists, we headed off to Fuji Five Lake. It was a leisurely walk. We had brought warm clothing because it is quite cool in March. We also brought our lunch for a picnic We had rice, fish and soup. It was pretty good. I would rather have a taco for lunch. Finally, we reached the mountain. It was incredible. Well worth the trip. We were lucky enough to visit on a clear day. Our view was phenomenal. We spent our time taking pictures and hiking around the base of the mountain by the lake.</title>
