The tree to Van Gogh represented death while the stars represented after life. The brightest star would be Venus. Venus represented love. Something that he had never had.
3. This painting was done on canvas and had long strokes of the brush. The strokes were at times swirly and frantic.
4. The artist was at that time depressed, suicidal and generally had given up hope on life. Van Gogh was voluntarily admitted to the asylum after he mutilated his own ear. He was allowed to occupy a room on the ground floor as his studio. In 1888, after arriving in Arles, Van Gogh wrote to his brother, Theo and friend Bernard of his belief of the after life and the starry skies.Van Gogh was at that time of painting it depressed and had thought of commiting suicide. The cyprus tree to him represented death, the stars, the afterlife and the brightest star in the painting, Venus, as love. After Van Gogh painted The Starry Night, he was quick to insist that the painting was not a return to religious and romantic ideas.
5. Van Gogh's work was initially criticised as being sloppy, crude and childish but later helped pave way to the start of the expressionism era.

Van Gogh is contrasting life and death with luminous stars and a gloomy, peaceful village. The main light sources are the bright stars and crescent moon.
4)Keeping with his reputation as a crazy artist, Van Gogh was committed to a mental health asylum after the ear incident with Paul Gauguin. Van Gogh painted this while in the mental asylum and that the landscape in the painting is the view Van Gogh had from his window. Van Gogh was looking for the death. He hoped that he could find love in death in a way where people appreciate his work.
5 ) The artwork is called Post - Impressionism.

1. ''The Starry Night'' was painted by Mr. Vincent Van Gogh, in year 1889.
2. The subject matter can be showed by the most eye-catching one; it is the immense of the Cypress trees, Van Gogh pictured himself as such plant, unfortunately it represents as 'death' for his personal reasons. Plus, the extreme heavy brushstrokes of the blue sky basically to visualise his inner impressions, and revealed the true colour of himself. The 11 stars in the night sky symbolised Van Gogh's criticis, but 1 which the closes to the trees represented the Venus, Lord of Love. He hoped to get his true love in the other life after death.
3. Oil paintings on a piece of normal canvas. Van Gogh used a brushstrokes technique and thought of double or triple layered painting. Also, he painted the sky swirly blue the most followed by each dab of colour rolling movement with the clouds around all stars and there was also one bright yellow moon. The village was coloured with none specific colour, and he depicted a ''starry night'' as his loneliness and expressed his sadness through his view from the asylum.
4. Vincent Van Gogh has been considered as a maniac because he suffered mental health issues. True, he had a big fight with is pal Paul Gauguin, and to be mentioned some people said that he cut off Van Gogh's left ear. Eventhough he got full supports from his brother, Theo Van Gogh, he also felt isolated by people surrounded him and suffered mental rationalism due to his experiences.
5.It is a Post-Impressionism piece of artwork. The painter expressed their emotions and feelings freely and depicted them in an artwork and made it as a masterpiece that can be translated by geranations until now.

"The Starry Night"by Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh features a starry night as the title suggests, among a Dutch town.
When compared to Van Gogh's "Wheat Field with Crows",the technique employed is the same where oil paints are squeezed out in thick ribbons right out onto the canvas. The dark tree,or the "Cypress tree" as it's called symbolises death. The stars represent the afterlife of humans and the brightest star in the sky, which is Venus, symbolises love.In this way,we can picture that Van Gogh, who was a very troubled man at mind and at heart, glorified death in his painting and was waiting for his Judgement Day,in order to rest in peace.Pioneers of the Post-Impressionism art movement believe that colours and brushstrokes are a medium of expressing emotions. Methods employed are such as Van Gogh himself, who squeezed paint right out of the tubes in thick ribbons right onto the canvas and divisionism, where the color wheel is used to create a series of dots for a picture.Wild brushstrokes also seems to be a trademark of the Post-Impressionism movement. The Post -Impressionists seem to believe that colour is a very expressive medium for emotions, and this can be felt through their paintings.

The cypress tree symbolizes death and this reflects the artist's thoughts about death. He used oil on canvas to make this painting. Furthermore, his bold and swirling brush strokes gives the impression that the painting is constantly moving. His consistency in his technique also adds more depth and texture to his painting. In addition, The Starry Night is based on several sketches made on paper with ink and charcoal. Eventually, he would make new and improved paintings based on previous versions. in 15 of the 21 versions, cypress trees are visible. This artwork is commonly regarded as "Early Post-Impressionism" by critiques. While in Paris, he made contact with the ideas and innovations of Paul Gauguin and Camille Pissarro. They wanted to discover new ways to paint when the themes and techniques of Impressionism were said to be "repetitive and limitating"
