         <description><![CDATA[<div>Build Efficient Library routines<br>*Teach students to respect books, "Books are treasures"; create a Book Care anchor chart.<br>*Establish "Library Open" hours so kids can shop for books; should be in small groups during a time in which teacher can monitor and guide students to their selection if needed; Post times<br>*Teach kids to find what they are looking for. Anchor chart with "Book box Contents" indicating the number or types of books they should have as a guide; Have a list of "possible future reads"; have a guided reading group for those kids that struggle to select books<br><br>This chapter has some great strategies to help manage the selection of books given we have so many students to get through our small libraries.  It also provides great anchor charts.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Interesting thing that I read was about the 2 critical goals to getting started.&nbsp;<br>1) Help students think of themselves as readers by reading books that are just right for them and that interest them.&nbsp;<br>The second goal is to establish the routines &amp; roles in the classroom.&nbsp;<br>2) Students will keep a reading log to record and keep track of the books that they are reading.&nbsp;<br>3) I will have to be patient and see what works best for my students.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The author set up a plan for the teacher to help the students during the first twenty days to become "self managed learners who can use literacy as a tool, to fully realize its reward."&nbsp; another interesting point is&nbsp; how we can show students don't just "get through" it, reading is "thinking about and reveling" what you read.<br>I will change instruction by breaking down the pieces of how to do these 20 tasks and set a real routine.</div>]]></description>
