I am not at home, so my options are limited for old family stuff. But, one of our family “values” is schooling. My daughter just graduated from law school, but prior to that, received her bachelor’s from NYU.

I don't have an image of me. However, I grew up wearing a white robe with red sash that my mom made and a hat with straw candles. Since I was age 5, I brought sweet rolls to my family and sang on Dec. 13, St. Lucia Day, annually.

These are bolo ties from my grandfather. I grew up in southern Colorado and am a descendant from a distinct cultural group of Latinos in the San Luis Valley. I wear these artifacts for family events like weddings.

This frisbee represents easy recreation, play, physical activity, and engagement with others, things that always enrich my day. The first time I met her, I tossed a frisbee to the woman who would soon become my partner and the mother of my kids. Playing pick-up frisbee has allowed me to engage with people at home and abroad. This particular frisbee has bite marks, a reminder of the dogs that have also been a big part of my life.
