Second Year Computer Engineering Students successfully collected the Remote Mountains GLOBE Data Observation and mapped the UN SDGs with their National Service Scheme (NSS) Camp Work. The aligned and mapped with 11 SDGs, 16 Targets, and 15 Indicators from the 2015 UN SDG Resolution, as well as 11 Actions from the 2024 Pact for the Future, this initiative sets a new benchmark for student-led community impact.

Second-year computer engineering students from SNJB’s College of Engineering have successfully presented their first breakthrough research from the GLOBE Lab Pilot Project at the prestigious NASA/GLOBE's “Trees Around the GLOBE Student Research Campaign" webinar on April 29, 2025 at 10:30 pm IST.

Their project, "GLOBE Cloud Data Explorer", links local sky observations with global climate action, marking SNJB’s impactful presence on the global stage.

4. Practical Techniques: Hands-on exercises using ArcGIS Story Maps and Canva demonstrated how to craft narratives that highlight key data points while maintaining a compelling storyline, ensuring clarity and engagement.

5. Collaboration in Storytelling: Participants explored how collaborative storytelling can unite scientists, educators, and students, creating a shared vision for addressing global challenges.

6. Inspiring Action: The workshop underscored the role of storytelling in inspiring action, showing participants how to use narratives to drive engagement and advocacy for science and sustainability.

What made this workshop extraordinary was its practical focus — participants were encouraged to touch, observe, and analyze soil samples, bridging theoretical knowledge with tangible experiences. This hands-on approach not only deepened understanding but also sparked meaningful conversations about the shared environmental challenges faced by nations worldwide.

4. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in Action : The session embodied the spirit of “the world is one family,” strengthening bonds across nations to work collectively for a better future.

5. Role of Institutional Support : Exchanges with U.S. Embassy representatives and educators highlighted the role of institutional and international support in advancing global scientific initiatives.

It was an enlightening experience to learn so many new aspects, thoughts and recognise the shared goal we all have towards making this planet a Sustainable One!

The workshop began with Session 1, which introduced the Earth System, environmental concepts, climate change, its indicators, and the importance of mitigation. Session 2 featured a hands-on activity where participants became Citizen Scientists through NASA's GLOBE Program. 

The workshop concluded with Session 3, educating youths about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how they can contribute in their daily lives. Overall, the workshop emphasized the importance of protecting the environment while pursuing sustainable development.

(Sustainable Development Goals) For SY B Tech students under the Community Engagement Project (CEP) / Field Work Subject.

The CurioSaturday session on July 26, 2025 connected local observations with global satellite data to promote climate action. Students explored rainfall and land-use trends using the Earth Map Tool and previewed the upcoming NISAR (NASA–ISRO) Mission. Insights from the GPM Mission deepened their understanding of monsoons, while the NASA Data Literacy Cube and NASA Eyes tools enhanced skills in data analysis and visualization.
