Write an original poem or song that conveys your theme. This can be in English, Hawaiian, or a mix of both. You do not have to perform it, but you can if you want. 😊

Your original composition needs to include both:

A reference to at least one piece of evidence from the text relating to your theme

At least two uses of figurative language (metaphor, simile, personification, alliteration, hyperbole)

Aside from that, the style of poem, genre of song, length, and lyrical content is up to you. For full credit, your composition should also:

Have a title

Show originality and high artistic quality — this should be a composition someone can hear or read and naturally be able to pick up on what your theme is

Incorporate your textual reference and figurative language in a way that clearly shares the connection you made to the theme with the reader/listener

Write your poem or song in a Google Doc. When pau, come make a new post here on Padlet in your class column and write the title of your composition as the subject line. In the post section (where it says "Write something amazing!") paste the text directly from your Google Doc. Then on the bottom, write your complete theme statement and submit before the end of class!
