The creation of the David was one of the biggest pieces of art ever built and influenced the arts of the renaissance massively. You could see why because after it was finished, the art of sculpting became one the most popular arts during the renaissance. Michelangelo started the sculpture in 1501 and finished in 1504. The sculpture of David was a tribute to the biblical king before his battle with Goliath. The sculpture then made its way back and ended up gaining fame and is still famous today.

(Michelangelo)

The Pieta is a creation which was sculpted in only 1 year(1498-1499)in which the mother Mary is holding christ in her arms after the crucifiction. Michelangelo made this sculpture because of how big christianity and faith was at the time of the renaissance. It ended up becoming one of his biggest and most famous sculptures and is still popular to this day because it's remembrance of the lord's sacrifice.
(Michelangelo's Pieta)
