  • I would describe the journey as painful, unfair, long, and unsanitary.

  • It said the European journeys were a lot safer and calmer because laws and rules protected them.

  • The boats were average so they wanted to fit as many slaves on the ship as possible which included stuffing people right next to each other in tight rows, making platforms to make more room, and lastly shackling them in place so they couldn't move.

  • they probably were heartbroken, it's hard to lose a family member with a 100% likelihood of never seeing them ever again. They could be dead or dying and the family would just be left wondering what was happening.

  • he was most likely feeling a mixture of concern for his family back home and somewhat depressed dealing with all the details of the situation. He can't go home, he won't see his family, he doesn't know what's coming, and he doesn't know if the people he cares about are alive.
