Goal:
To turn kitchen waste into natural fertilizer for plants.

Materials:

• Fruit and vegetable scraps

• Dry leaves or shredded paper

• A compost bin or container

• Water

• A small shovel

Steps:

1. Firstly, place the bin in a shady area with good airflow.

2. Secondly, add a layer of dry leaves or shredded paper at the bottom.

3. Then, add a layer of fruit and vegetable scraps on top.

4. Thirdly, sprinkle a little water to keep the pile moist but not soaked.

5. Next, use the shovel to stir the pile every few days to speed up decomposition.

6. Finally, after 4–6 weeks, the compost will look dark and smell earthy. Use it to enrich your garden soil.
