I learnt the advantages of being young in a swimming class a few years ago. It took a few days for me to learn swimming.  The other children in my class were always trying to improve their stamina and to hold their breath longer. The adults in out class, however, were absolutely terrified of learning. The coach had to teach them strokes in the baby pool. The adults are not as easily mouldable as the youth . It is more difficult for them to conquer their fears as compared to the youth. Exam season started the next day and I had books and study material scattered all over my desk while I peered over a math textbook with a pencil in my hand trying to understand. I set my pencil down and eyed the clock. Sighing I look back down and the practice paper and try to time myself while solving it. Even when i give it my best shot my scores still remain average, I thought while ruffling up my hair in frustration. ''It takes effort to get good results but why is it so hard for me?'', I mumbled as I picked up my paper and looked through my mistakes again. 'That night, I ended up falling asleep on my desk at around 2 am. I woke up with a start when my alarm started ringing. 
I hurriedly got up and dressed and shoved a protein bar into my mouth as I waved bye to my parents before leaving to catch the school bus. The anxious, jittery feeling in my veins never died down. When I got down at school, I took a shaky breath and reminded myself that all will go well. Trembling slightly, I made my way down to the examination room. As I began writing the paper I felt nervous and afraid, I tried to solve the problems on time while watching the clock. Tick-tock time is still left, ring-ring, the bell echoed and the exam came to an end, I had so many worries. I handed my paper in and left the school building, the ride home was a blur. I plopped down on to my bed and face-timed my friend from Australia. Felix was a good 6 years older to me, yet, he was one of my best friends. ''G'day mate!!'', he spoke cheekily, grinning with his deep voice and thick accent. ''Hey Lix'', I responded, my voice small and stressed. ''Woah, woah, woah, what's wrong, who hurt my child'', he said. I giggled at that, Felix was the 'mom-friend', called me his child, and was very protective. I rolled my eyes, ''I can fend for myself, MOM'', he then mumbled something about me being a disrespectful child, I laughed. ''Lets get back to the real problem, what's bothering you? till the time I was with my teacher I was confident but as soon as I saw the people who had come to listen to me I lost all my confidence and couldn't give my best in that competition.
I ended up losing a pretty good opportunity to prove myself and get a chance to win the only narrative competition I was selected for.
