Students currently have more ELL and social emotional needs and we are supporting them with ELL teachers, but many are not trained in early interventions.

ES- Admissions would send students with specific needs to the principal for review. The principal with Counselors would review the file and decide if we can support based on current students enrolled, case load, and capacity of the team. We ask for additional info and ask to speak with previous school personnel. Without the common understanding of mild to moderate, this decision is based on personal experience.

We need clear procedures that all offices can follow. Also, understanding that even though we all understand we need the enrollment for financial reason, Admissions need to understand the educational side that we need to accept students that we can support. When we accept students only for financial reasons and not based on what supports we can offer we setting that students up to failure and not success. It is important to go back to have a common vision.
