This is known as the "iGeneration." Any child born after 2004 has grown up in a world powered by thriving and interactive technology. These learners are attached to technology, and most of these students own technology of their own, which includes, but is not limited to computers, mobile phones, tablets, and televisions. Learning for these students is much different than learning in other generations, and these students can utilize technology to get the most out of their education.

What does it mean to teach 21st Century Learners as a 21st Century Teacher?

21st Century Teachers will find it useful to have a PLN. Many teachers try to teach from the way they were taught, and that often comes from passive teaching and listening. However, half of the students aren't engaged during this type of learning. These teachers' most efficient teaching should come from content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and technological knowledge. Therefore, to keep the students engaged and to give them the greatest opportunity to learn, teachers must have a good understanding of the content, understand how to involve the students and engage them into active learning, and do their best to keep up with the latest educational technology. 21st Century Teachers now have more powerful learning tools than ever before, and are beginning to switch from projectors and textbooks to more interactive technology. For example, Promethean Boards have been placed in almost every classroom in my high school's district, and the teachers and students alike are able to utilize them.
