Let's say we need to look at the photos from our phone. The process is very simple - place the phone on the table and the images will be fetched very quick and displayed in the surface. This seems to be a compact product too, as it fits in our normal table. It can also be switched off when not in use.

Sanjay T
CH.EN.U4CSE19037
CSE

I consider this as a failure product. The most important point is that folding the Galaxy Fold isn’t the durability issue that you should be concerned about. It's the device overall fragility. Samsung’s futuristic, ultra-expensive gadget must be kept away from water, and we’ve seen evidence (albeit extreme) that dust can still make its way in, despite Samsung’s redesign of the product. The second revision seems to be failing less often than the first, but the Galaxy Fold is still a preview of a foldable phone future

V M Pranavan
CH.EN.U4CSE19028
Computer Science and Engineering

Microsoft launched the Zune in 2006 as a competitor to the iPod. The product launch was late as apple had already launched it 5 years back. There also weren’t any innovative or differentiating features to entice people to buy a Zune instead of an iPod. Microsoft’s marketing of the Zune was too narrowly focused. The marketing team targeted their campaigns toward a specific audience, perhaps those who are anti-mainstream and want to stand apart from the crowd. The marketing team ended up missing out on an opportunity to engage a broader audience of music listeners by aiming at this niche group. Hence Bad timing, lack of innovation, and insufficient marketing were the main factors for why it failed.
From a User Perspective, I think why would someone buy a product that is already in the market with no additional benefits.
A.S.L.Manasa
CH.EN.U4CSE19148
Computer Science and Engineering

I rarely use tools, but on the rare occasion that I need one, I groan thinking that I need to go buy the respective tool which, again, I'll rarely use anyway. There's a screwdriver, four position wrench, butterfly wrench, direction ancillary wrench, and a two-position wrench for my common tool needs. On top of that, there's a can opener, knife edge, ruler, bottle opener , and a saw blade for any other random emergency, which I find very useful. The best thing about it is that unlike other multi-tools, it is flat and fits in your wallet! They also provide a carrying case so you can store it in your bag. They advertise a keyring hole, which is the one thing I would advise against, because the knife edge and saw blade are sharp and I wouldn't want this tool hanging around my body. But on the bright side, with the stainless steel material, the tools are actually sharp — a pleasant surprise. This won't break with average use.
Gautham Mythireyan K M
CH.EN.U4ECE19007
ECE

As we all know Diabetes is now not only affecting older people but now we can see this condition affecting teenagers, all age groups around the world. In some rare cases, we can see newly born infants with diabetes. This condition is common in my country, India. India is home to 77 million diabetics, the second-highest in the world. The surveys say that in the year 2019 an estimated 1.5 million deaths were directly caused by diabetes. In this 1.5 million there many are people who died due to lack of medical facility in their nearby region. Due to the pandemic, many people are completely shut down to their homes, which resulted in financial problems. People died due to hunger, "Did they have money to pay for their health checkups or medical bills". Even though we are able to afford the bills the situation outside is worst, as there is a high chance of getting infected as the hospitals were flooded by COVID patients. There are many people who take two sugar pills just because they had a headache and do not prefer to visit the doctor for a checkup due to their own reasons, be it financial or travel-related issues. Glucometer helped us in this situation, with the help of this device one could take a diabetic test in their home and the results were instant. The doctor could prescribe medication virtually with the help of the results if the situation is worst you can then visit the hospital. These are my reasons to say glucometer is a well-designed device and moreover, it doesn't even cost you much, user friendly and can be used multiple times.

M.Harsha Vardhan reddy,
CH.en.u4mee19003.

Mobile computing before the iPad was basically crap. Laptops couldn’t be used away from a wall socket for very long, as you’d be lucky to get two hours of use out of the battery — even when it was brand new. And, despite the name, you couldn’t really use a laptop on your lap for more than a few minutes. It would literally burn your legs.

But then came the iPad. And that wasn’t crap at all. Utilizing a highly-efficient ARM processor, a power-sipping display, and a non-Windows operating system, the iPad offered a genuine 10 hours of battery life, even though it weighed only a fraction as much as a typical laptop. And unlike laptops, it ran silently and vibration-free, because it had no need for either a fan or a hard drive. And then there was all the fun and user-friendliness of its touch-based interface, which could be customized for each individual app. It was so simple and intuitive to use that toddlers.
The iPad wasn’t just an improvement on previous mobile computing products. It offered a paradigm shift , a true revolution in mobile computing.

A.R. Lalitha Pranathi
CH.EN.U4EEE19002
EEE

This type of wireless headset is the most problematic in my opinion. I've tried out several brands. But it seems the actual design is where the problem lies. The thin wires connecting the buds to the console are not that strong and due to this, one side of the headset stops functioning (either left or right). This could possibly be due to the improper positioning around the neck which happens very often since we cannot monitor the position every time. Wire gets twisted too which makes it weaker on frequent usage.

Sanjay T
CH.EN.U4CSE19037
CSE

1. Sales were hindered by fundamental problems

The average cost of the aircraft was $445 million and its four-engine configuration and enormous weight (560,000kg) made it expensive to run.

In an industry characterised by razor-thin margins, fuel efficiency is king and this created issues for the A380, especially as Airbus itself and rival Boeing developed more fuel-efficient aircraft.

More importantly, planes such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350-900 are capable of carrying large passenger numbers and boast a comparable range to the A380, thus negating, to a large extent, the supposed advantages of the world’s largest passenger aircraft.

2. Growth outlook has changed causing a restructuring of aircraft orders

Lead times for aircraft production are long and much can change between the time of order and delivery. Airlines were bullish about growth prospects when they placed orders but the picture has since changed.

Emirates are not the only airline currently cancelling or changing orders. Etihad is scaling back or restructuring orders with both Boeing and Airbus. Airlines’ expectations for premium travel and hub-and-spoke flights were unrealistic from the outset and we are now seeing cooler heads prevail.

3. End-to-end flying is taking over from hub-and-spoke

Airbus gambled on a continuation and maybe even increase of hub-and-spoke flying. Although the 787 has not killed that model in the way many predicted, hub-and-spoke is unpopular in an era sensitive to time poverty, meanwhile smaller jets are flying direct, showcasing the limitations of hubs.

Boeing has rightly been given credit for focusing its efforts on smaller jets with excellent ranges to aid direct flights, but Airbus itself is also excelling in this area, so the news is not all bad for the European manufacturer.

Its A350 and A330 models have also contributed to the end of A380 production and although Emirates has cancelled A380 orders, we shouldn’t forget that it has ordered 40 A330 Neo and 30 A350 aircraft. Airbus is therefore well-placed to exploit the trend for end-to-end flights.

Gautham Mythireyan K M
CH.EN.U4ECE19007
ECE

During World War II the Swedish government tasked Victor Hasselblad with designing a camera that mirrored a German aerial surveillance camera recovered from a downed plane. This camera was refined over the following years, eventually spawning the iconic 500C in the late 1950s. Several different models of Hasselblad cameras were taken into space, all specially modified for the task.
In 2016, Hasselblad introduced the world's first digital compact mirrorless medium-format camera, the X1D-50c, changing the portability of medium-format photography. Hasselblad produces about 10,000 cameras a year from a small three-story building. Such was the popularity of the camera, it became the anchor product for the Hasselblad company for the next four decades, and was used by NASA during the Apollo missions to the moon.

Mathala Naga Kamalesh
CH.EN.U4EEE19005
EEE

Cyberpunk 2077 was the most hyped-up video game of this decade. The game was released half a year ago, but the first trailer of the game was released back in 2013. After 7 years of waiting, all users got was a very buggy glitchy incomplete game. The game had bugs like random teleportation, impossible missions, graphical glitched NPC and flying through walls. Later when the game was released on PS4 and Xbox, it was basically unplayable due to the poor optimization. Even the beefier Graphics Card of this year aren't enough to run Cyberpunk at full potential.
Wireless Phone Charger

Wireless chargers are slower than wired chargers. The thing about wireless charging is it uses something called electromagnetic induction, basically transferring energy from one place, like your charging mat, for example, to another, your phone.

Wireless charging uses two physical coils. The induction coil in the charger and the receiver coil in the phone. If you don't align the two coils on top of each other, your device won't charge correctly. This method of charging is slower than plugging your phone straight into an outlet, which lets the power flow from the outlet through the wired charger to your phone.

But for the most part, you can't use your phone while it charges wirelessly. If you take your phone off the wireless charger to do anything, it'll stop charging. You can't text comfortably without lifting your phone off the charger, you can't sit on the couch and scroll through Instagram, and you can't even take a phone call properly. But with a cord, you can do all those tasks while staying plugged in.

Basically, if you hold or place your wireless charging phone, tablet, and headphones around the wireless charger, it'll begin to charge your devices, which sounds pretty cool and is a great step forward. But the thing is, none of these companies have released their product yet. It's just all talk. Just like Apple with their Airpower. So, I'll believe it when I'm scrolling through Instagram on my couch while truly charging my phone wirelessly.

NIKITHA REDDY NALLA
CH.EN.U4ECE19031

Electronics and Communication Engineering

Voice technology within your company can help to improve your employees' productivity as voice assistants can remember important dates or deadlines, schedule appointments and in general, keep the relevant information updated. Chances are we have all heard about or maybe even used voice assistant technology in one form or another. Leading tech giants have all launched products that support voice technology. Some examples include Google’s Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana, and, of course, Apple’s Siri. In the past few years, more companies have been exploring personal voice assistant technology for app development and tech business. Encompassing the advantages, this has translated into an increase in usage and awareness from consumers. Global auditing company PwC, in recent research, states that from the 1000 consumers (aged 18–64) questioned, the knowledge about voice technology was at 90% of the subjects, and a majority (72%) had also used a voice assistant. that's why I think this is a well developed one.

SANJEEV AAKASH S
CH.EN.U4ECE19021
ECE DEPT

We all know about blackberry mobiles. It is the most successful mobile brand at that time. These phones took the top position in the chart as well and it's more suited to the modern smartphone era. Over the years, blackberry smartphones had two major advantages. They used a special server technology that sat between the phone and email systems to provide better performance. The next major one is, they also offered a higher level of security than other systems. They brought many of the security enhancements from their old OS (BB10) to Android when they made the switch. The result was the most secure Android smartphone on the market and the best option for privacy-conscious individuals. According to my point of view, safety is the main requirement for the mobile user especially for businessmen to secure some stuff of their business in mobile. And blackberry also had numerous keyboard facilities like a manual to make the user friendly while typing. So I consider this product as well designed and developed product.

BARANIDHARAN S
CH.EN.U4ECE19046
ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Within a year, however, the social network proved to be unpopular. The company then tried to make google + more appealing to users by adding the ability to send private messages to friends and create circles. In its first year, the service gained 3.6 million users.
There are a lot of factors that caused the failure of Google+, and one of the many is the inability of Google+ was to keep up with the demand of users. So, the first step is to accept the fact that you can't build a social network that's as big as Facebook and as successful as it. It's just not possible in this century.
It also failed to gain popularity due to poor marketing by Google, a lack of attention by the main user base, and lack of interest from the public in general were reasons for the failure. Back in 2010, an Indian cellphone startup called LAVA decided to introduce a revolutionary new product. If you go by the look then it looks like Blackberry .
2. This is clear example of over-designing a product. This could have been a big hit, but we’ll never know. It flopped miserably. Apparently people didn’t want to relearn everything they knew about typing just to use their new cellphone and they couldn't reach people's expectation as there is no internal space to save any music or video or any other applications , Body is of cheap plastic with steel polish the frame broke within the warranty and no where to replace it.

B Sri Lasya Pragathi
CH.EN.U4CSE19039
CSE

Some of you know about the Amazon fire phone. This is more famous for its brand. But the reason why it's not known for many people is that it is a failed product in the market. Amazon tried hard to enter a new market, via the launch of its new phone series. However, the phone lacked enough apps, had bugs and failed to have a good attractive design. And it had a bad feature. Amazon didn't offer the service as the other brand did. According to my point of view, if the user is willing to buy a brand new mobile, they will surely take a look at an adorable design and with favorable software. But this phone had a major drawback in this portion. So, I consider This product as the most failed product in the market.

BARANIDHARAN S
CH.EN.U4ECE19046
ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Windows OS on phones

I consider this Windows OS on phones to be a very failed model as it has nothing in terms of user experience. I do agree with the point that windows OS is the most desirable OS in PCs and laptops for productivity. But when coming to phones, windows OS doesn't perform that much great, as the majority of the phone users like their phone to be very much involved in entertainment purposes rather than work perspective. Also, Windows OS phones need hours of practice to get to know about all the functionality that it contains, which is not very welcoming for most users to switch to Windows phones. Adding to that, Windows OS for phones platform was very much isolated due to its lack of usability in terms of any features.

Moving on, the windows OS phone's app support is very worse than any others, simply because of the lack of user attention to their phones. With overwhelming responses from consumers, its competitors like I-Store and Play Store provide various high-end apps for phones, while the windows app support is still only capable of providing old aged limited apps that are modified to work on Windows tablets. This drawback also pulled off many users' minds in buying Microsoft's smartphone.

Not only these are the main drawbacks from users' perspective, but also the serviceability of the phones in any neighborhood was also literally poor. As the phone has poor reach in the society, their service also degraded. This is due to the non-profitability of the work, as the service is completely related to sales of phones. Hence low reach of phone ==> Low rate of serviceability in nearby areas. These further made the users think that it's not their call to switch their android / I-mobiles to Windows OS-based phones.

Sakthi Lakshmanan An
CH.EN.U4CSE19034
Computer Science and Engineering

I consider Toyota Corolla as a well designed product. It has always been known for its excellent fuel economy. The new Toyota Corolla has a more fuel-efficient engine that is also larger and more powerful. Toyota has also introduced a hybrid line in the 2018 Corolla to go even further toward cost efficiency and less reliance on gasoline. It is expected to make petrol-electric technology more widely available in Australia by making it more affordable.Toyota Corolla is well-known for its low service costs and low prices. The Corolla is an excellent value for money for a small mainstream car.
The new Toyota Corolla has semi-autonomous driver aids comparable to more expensive models, such as adaptive radar-based cruise control, lane departure assist, and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).In addition to seven airbags, a reversing camera, and a pre-collision detection system, the 2018 Toyota Corolla establishes a new safety technology benchmark in its segment. The new Corolla sets a high standard with standard automatic high-beam headlights, an AEB system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and lane-keep assist (LKA) with lane departure warning (LDW). As a result, it has received a five-star rating from ANCAP.

D. CHANUKYA
CH.EN.U4MEE19017
MECHANICAL

This is the case with Google+, the social media platform launched by the Silicon Valley behemoth in 2011 to compete with Facebook. Despite a massive marketing campaign, Google+ failed to distinguish itself from Facebook and never took off in the same way. While the site initially saw a surge in subscribers, by April 2015, Google+ had seen a 98 percent drop in user engagement. Today Google+ is no longer available.

D.

The paper clip was introduced as a pin that pierced the papers to hold them together. The sharp pins would prick the workers using them and were difficult to use. Thus began the gradual improvements: The straight pin morphed into something called a T-pin, a device with a horizontal wire on the end that allowed the pin to be pushed more easily through the papers without needlessly pricking fingers. The iconic double loop design had just enough spring to hold several sheets of paper together – without snapping and without piercing fingers or paper.
So I think this was the best design....

M.SURYA
CH.EN.U4MEE19012
MECHANICAL
TEAM-THE PERFECT PIRATES

The curved glass of the exterior acted as a giant lens that converged sun rays onto one of the neighboring streets. Many melting incidents have been caused by this major laser beam to bikes, shop facades, a car, and a carpet.

In July 2015, the building was criticized for having an unexpected impact on wind strength at street-level.

Today, it feels more clear than ever that electric cars will be at least a part of our automotive future. Upstart electric automaker Tesla is leading the charge, having sold over 76,000 vehicles in 2016. But it was a legacy Detroit company, General Motors, that put the first mass-produced electric vehicle on the road.
As it was released in the year where people focused more on technologies this car was a great flop at the release time.
The GM EV-1, available between 1996 and 1999, was a hit with the small number of customers who got to lease one. (They were only leased, not sold, and less than 2,500 were made). But GM ultimately decided that electric vehicles were too niche, controversially scrapping the program and sending most EV-1s to the crushers. The modern EV renaissance, however, is evidence there’s a market for these cars — and now even GM is getting back in the game with its Chevy Bolt.

ABISHEK M K
CH.EN.U4CSE19001
CSE-A
TEAM: Alpha Squad

Tesla is now known to be a pioneer in the Electric Vehicle game. It is surprising to learn that Tesla’s success is not an overnight success but its official incorporation dates back to 2003, founded by silicon valley Engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning with the idea of proving that electric cars are better than gasoline cars and that they can be powerful and beautiful at the same time. We recognize Elon Musk as the face of Tesla, it is yet another shocking fact to learn that he was never a founding member of Tesla, but he later joined as a head of the Board of Directors at Tesla and is also the CEO now.
From a consumers perspective, Tesla seems to be very environment friends and it can be even charged at home, an alternative to ever-growing cost of using Fossil fuel based vehicles, which one day might run out. it's a futureproof car which is more a healthier option than gasoline.

Dipta Sarker
CH.EN.U4CS19146
CSE-B
Team: Gonin

Creative packaging design can lead to a successful product, but the product itself must also perform the job for which it was designed. Sadly, the taste and texture left something to be desired. Was this the result of the use of gellant gum – a substance that helped keep the small gel balls afloat?

Rolls-Royce was a British luxury car and later an aero-engine
manufacturing business established in 1904 in Manchester,
United Kingdom by the partnership of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. Rolls-Royce has built an enduring reputation for development and manufacture of engines for defence and civil aircraft. Rolls-Royce buyers often want to match their beloved ride with a favorite color lipstick or a sentimental shade. Some even choose to import diamonds into their paint. It's this extraordinary workmanship and attention to every hand-assembled detail that is, in part, what makes these cars so incredibly special.

They are also committed to supporting their customer’s development through training and partnerships. Through their global network of customer training centres we deliver training solutions designed to help their customers to operate their Rolls-Royce products effectively, efficiently and safely.

Stratergy:
The pricing in its marketing mix is kept high as they offer products, services and finishing of the highest quality and also offer customisation as per the requirement of the customer. After 1987 Rolls-Royce focused on four sectors which are civil, military, and marine as well as energy, and the firm continued its expenditure on investment and R&D,
it provides new products and new technologies. Rolls-Royce’s competitive advantage mainly focuses on core markets and core technology.

Outcome:
Rolls-Royce, the global leader in power systems and services for air, land and sea, focuses on both the importance of services for its civil and defense aerospace markets and its newest programs for these markets,
mainly on the global market.

Biscuits is considered as the perfect partner for our beloved Chai and also one of the most popular and affordable snacks that we consume in our daily life, but that was not the case during our pre-independence days. When British ruled India, it was not like we didn’t had biscuits. Britannia biscuits which was under British control, were mostly imported due to which the prices were very expensive. Due to high prices they were considered as premium product or for only elite classes, which was not affordable for Indian common people.

It all started at 1929 Mohanlal Dayal Chauhan, who was highly inspired by the Swadeshi movement, which promoted the production and use of Indian goods and wanted to produce swadeshi Biscuits which were lower in price, taste good and healthy, so that common Indian people can afford and taste biscuits.
He established a small factory in Vile Parle village Mumbai with his family and 12 men.

Parle’s first product was an orange candy then, they started making other confectioneries and toffees. It was only 10 years later in 1939 that the biscuit making operation began. Parle launched ‘Parle Gluco’ which was an affordable biscuit meant for the consumption of common people. It became quickly became very popular among Indians. It also became the British-Indian army’s go-to biscuits during World War II. After independence, this company started putting up ads to promote its biscuits. The ads showcased glucose biscuits and were favoured by Indians in a large number. However, due to a severe shortage of wheat in 1947 and due to the partition, production of Parle Gluco biscuits had to stop for a while. At that time, Parle requested people to consume the biscuits made of barley, for they were just as healthy. In 1960 Britannia launched its first glucose biscuit named Glucose D. Parle Company came face to face with the other competitors in the market and because of similar names, it confused many people and the sales got divided. After this, it became Parle-G (G stands for glucose that was present in the biscuit, but in recent slogans, it stands for genius) The logo of Parle-G is one of the most well-known in India. Parle-G never changed the logo as it is crucial to illustrate the originality and stability of the product. The same logo in the packaging can help customers to remember and recognize it.

Parle-G is known for low price, You will be surprised to know that the company didn't increase the biscuit price for the last 25 years and became one of the world’s largest selling biscuit brand, coming in packs costing as little as Rs 5. Parle Products makes their biscuits in 130 factories across the country. It makes around 400 million Parle-G biscuits every day. In the year 2011, a survey was conducted, and the results were quite surprising. Parle-G got to be named as the most widely selling biscuit of that year. As the brand is indigenous, this was a proud moment for the company. Parle products company claimed that they have achieved the highest sale of Parle-G in the lockdown 2020.

REFERENCE:

1. https://finmedium.com/2020/08/parle-g-success-story

2. https://startuptalky.com/parle-g-success-story

TEAM: THE PREFECT PIRATES

SRI LASYA PRAGATHI – CH.EN.U4CSE19039 - CSE

SRI PAVAN KUMAR .G - CH.EN.U4ECE19009 – ECE

SHANKAR R - CH.EN.U4ECE19023 – ECE

M.SURYA - CH.EN.U4MEE19012 - MECH
