His contribtutions were so significant that we can talk about a process called "The Chomskyan revolution" or cognitive revolution, which consisted on the departure from the standard scientific method, which inherently considered mentalist theories as not possible to proof. Chomsky had to part ways with this method to depart from behaviorism once in for all. As he believed that the most important action concerning language occurs in the mind, this method labeled the study of language as virtually impossible.
