My mom used to drive me and my siblings to school everyday from elementary to high school. My dad did not trust bus drivers. Before we got off the car each morning, she would scream to us, "Make good choices!" To this day, before I leave the house to do anything, she tells me the same. They are words that I live by.

In the morning, we attend mass (my favorite mass of the year). After mass, we rush home to barbeque fajitas and chicken. Once we've had our fill, my family does an Easter Egg Hunt with confetti eggs (cascarones). This hunt is obviously followed by an all-out war. It is one of my favorite traditions that we continue into our adult lives. Throughout my years a student, I would often hear my peers complain about how horribly boring they thought school was. It brought me great sadness because I know that they never had a teacher to take the time to show them how fun and exciting the learning process can be. It is a great quality to have especially as an adult. The only way to get better at anything is by learning. I barely spoke Spanish, and I knew little to nothing about Mexican culture.
