         <description><![CDATA[<div>As a child, I cannot remember being reading being important except for hearing my mother read from the Bible and Children's Bible stories.  My mother and Father would read from the Bible to us at every meal and we were required to recite bible verses each day.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>I learned to read from my siblings</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My older sibling must have read to me, but I cannot recall that either.  My sister says that we read together books like <em>Green Eggs and Ham, Cat in the Hat, and Charlottes Web</em>.  My brother was Dyslexic and struggled with reading.  He hated reading because he had to retake the 1st grade because they did not realize he was struggling.  I do remember reading <em>Jack in the Bean Stalk</em> but our parents took it away from us because they said that it was Magic and against our Religion.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My first memory of the library was in 2nd grade.  I lived in Channelview, Texas and remember walking to a library in my neighborhood.  We had to cross a skybridge that went over a major highway.  I remember being amazed that I was allow to take books home.  But again I do not remember what I read.  This library looks familiar.  </div>]]></description>

I remember us playing school and church, so we must have read during those times.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 10th grade I remember reading the <em>Flowers in the Attic </em>Series. I could not get enough of them. I had a job and I bought all of them with my own money. My father passed away that year and my mother was distracted. If my mother would have read these books she would have been furious and banned them from me.  It was the first time that I had read a chapter book.  I don't even remember who suggested that I read them.</div>]]></description>

It was required reading because I graduated in 1984.  "Big Brother" was a new world for me and it intrigued me.  Did not realize that the government could have control over a society. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I remember reading <em>Child of Satan, Child of God . </em> I felt as if I was being rebellious by reading such a deranged book in my younger years I was fascinated by murder and psychological disturbances of people. Charles Manson was a "sick" individual and it was hard for me to believe that his followers would obey him do such horrific things.  I later read <em>Helter Skelter and was hooked on "True Crime" types of books.</em></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe some of my favorite books are Grisham books.  I am intrigued with the law, trials and murders. I think my favorite is <em>A Time to Kill and A Painted House.</em> I still attempt to read each book that he writes when it comes out, but since beginning my graduate work I have not been able to read <em>The Reckoning, </em>but I heard from my Father-in-Law that it is exceptional.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After being educated over the importance and benefits of reading, I made sure to instill a love of reading to my daughter.  She is grown and still loves Harry Potter. She read all of the time and I was so proud of what an exceptional student she became. We frequently talk about books and her latest reading endeavors. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I teach Education and Training Classes and in class we focus on children learning to read at an early age.  My students are required to read with children at the Elementary schools in our district.  In FCCLA this year child literacy is our main goal.  Our chapter is creating Free Libraries to be distributed around Belton, Texas.</div>]]></description>
