Verifiability

ABC News

ABC News does a good job on taking verifiability for their reports. Throughout their news coverage they use quotes along with including links in their reports to ensure to readers that they have backup information for the things they are reporting. In one of their stories about Hurricane Milton they mentioned the total number of deaths and include a link that dives deeper into the hurricane and offers people more information to make the report more trustworthy.

NBC News

NBC also does a good job in verifying their reports. They also include good quote usage and explain where their facts are coming from instead of saying "sources say". When talking about Hurricane Milton they include more than ABC and take quotes from the govern of Florida while also including "What We Know" at the end of the report. This ensures people the facts that are in the report but also giving more information and links at the end to give people more.

ABC News

ABC News does a good job in accountability in the things they report. When reporting about Hurricane Milton they did not offer as much reading on the report for the days they were covering it. I think this shows they aren't making things up and are still able to use the hurricane as a main headline for their page.

NBC News

NBC News does a good job with accountability too. I think this goes in hand with verifiability because they mention quotes and outside sources to back up their accounts and make correct remarks for things. When talking about Hurricane Milton, they explain outside information they got from another source which backs them up with their information.

Independence

ABC News

ABC News has a good separation between news and their own opinions. This news source is in the middle of left and right and they don't show bias in their news coverage. When discussing Hurricane Milton they left out things that the government said which can be seen as they didn't cover that or did not want to include it in their coverage and focus more on the people who are being affected. They stand in the middle and don't write their own opinions, they share facts.

NBC News

NBC News has good independence and don't have a bias toward things when reporting. When reporting, they keep opinions separate from the facts which is a good thing. When discussing Hurricane Milton, they dive deeper into the facts and quote the govern of Florida and cover different areas in Florida that will be more affected. I think this helps more people out because the more things people know, the better off they can be.
