It helps us understand other cultures. It stimulates questions like “Why are other cultures different? History also helps you to understand change. A great way of putting it is that history is the study of change. The world is constantly changing, so understanding the role of change in society helps you interpret the world in its current state. History provides you with a firm grasp of why things change, the mechanisms driving change and its significance.

If we want to know how and why our world is the way it is today, we have to look to history for answers. People often say that “history repeats itself,” but if we study the successes and failures of the past, we may be able to learn from our mistakes and avoid repeating them in the future.
