Question:In the context of the poem, what does it mean to feel alone? How is the bird affected by its isolation in the cage? What is the bird denied by being kept in the cage?
Feeling alone means not having anyone to be there for you. They feel isolated from everyone."When he beats his bars and he would be free;It is not a carol of joy or glee," . The bird is affectedd by isolation in the cage because he was just locked up in a cage trying to get out but couldn't "I know why the caged bird beats his wing

Till its blood is red on the cruel bars; For he must fly back to his perch and cling". He is bruising himself trying to get free. The bird is denied freedom "When the first bird sings and the first bud opes,And the faint perfume from its chalice1 steals2 —".

Question:How does this relate to the Count of Monte Cristo? (Keep in mind that this bird is still caged after slavery was abolished)
This poem relates to The Count of Monte Cristo because Dantes was locked in a prison for 13 years and he would starve himself and sit in the dark. Thinking about putting his life to an end. Even after he got out he would change up his looks and name to make sure nobody knew. If he goes back to the name Dantes he'll still go to jail .
