26/07/2022

Original Lunchtime:
~ Rushes to the music suite.
She rushes because the practice rooms fill up very quickly, so it is necessary to make sure she gets there first. However, this can be stressful and doing this often could provide a buildup of tension. Work on This

~ Communicates with Music Teachers.
Communicating with faculty is a good opportunity to build healthy learner partnerships. Keep This Aspect

~ Practices in Practice Room.
Practicing is a great way to build commitment and work-ethic, while also doing something she is passionate in. However, since practice rooms are small, it is unlikely she is having much inter-student socialisation. So while pracicing can be good every now and then, Maiko needs to consider doing so alongside students or making a personal planner to specify on which days she will visit the rooms.

~ Returns to lockers.

Redesign Lunchtime:
~ Maiko will book the practice rooms in the morning to avoid stress and not rush to the rooms. This will also improve her safety, as she will not be rushing through the halls.

~ Once she gets to the practice rooms, she can have a conversation with the Music Teachers. This could be about their day, or even practice tactics!

~ Maiko can, of course, practice. However, this will only be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On the other days, she will make an effort to socialise with other friends in her year level.

Then she spends some time with her family.
~ After this, she eats with her family before going to bed.

Redesigned Sunday
First, Maiko will begin the day by waking up and doing her normal preparation routine. However, she will have woken up earlier in order to facilitate her walking to Church. Before she does this, she'll pack a piece of fruit (such as a banana) to eat on her walk and a thermos of tea (a beverage that she enjoys). This is a sufficient substitute for breakfast. She will then walk home from church and continue her day as she specified above, as there were no inherent issues there.

Empathise
Understand and share the feelings of another.
Empathy is used when you need to relate to another person, whether they are someone you know well or a stranger: an example of this could be if you see an injured or struggling person in public, and you'd utilise empathy to consider how they may be feeling and what they need to help their situation.

Define
State or describe the nature, scope or meaning of a certain thing.
Empathizing is when you recognise there's a problem, and define is when you work out what the problem is.

8/09/2022

I took on the creative role in my SPIN0FF group and thus was tasked with illustrating the characters which would be displayed on the front of our bins. This was a creative challenge, as I needed to design characters which were immediately evident to be related to a certain trash type. My entire team had different ideas for these characters and thus we needed to effectively communicate our concept designs to create a design which we're all happy with. This developed skills that I think will be useful later in life if I ever take on art as a profession or side-hustle, as communicating the specifications of a commision and collaborating to come to a final goal is crucial.

The subscription can be cancelled at any time.

As a customer, can I buy multiple products from different shops at once? | They can get multiple products delivered to them from the different shops.

I’m the owner of a small thrift store who struggles with technology. How do I upload my catalogue to the app? | Our app is designed to be accessible for everyone, and thus the steps to upload your products are simple! The way our app works is you set up an online storefront, your page. On this page, you will have the opportunity to click upload, which will take you to a questionnaire and image upload for your product. Some of the questions would of course include:How much does this product cost? What is the name of this product? What are some product details (specific to class of product)?

Will it be based on proximity to the consumer’s location? | Results coming up for the product depend on the proximity of the consumer to the store. So the store that has the product that is closest to the user will come up at the top.

I’m a customer who isn’t able to leave the house on a regular basis. Am I able to get my order delivered? | To ensure that all the businesses can profit from one customer, we do offer a delivery service where we will employ people to deliver your orders straight to your home.

What if I still do not get the customers I want if other stores compete with my product? | Shop Owners have the option to cancel the subscription whenever they want.

How do businesses change their information in the app, if there is a change in stock? | A business’ storefront page acts as a catalogue, from which they can easily add and remove products beyond the initial product adding screen. Business owners get an unseen toggle on each item to indicate how many there are in stock, which they can easily access from their control page.

This reflection is completed after having made all the changes detailed below.

First, I made the shift to using a "canvas" style layout on my Padlet. This allowed me to prioritise important pieces of reflection or work by making them larger, and also made the entirety of my padlet more accessible by removing extra long entries by thickening them out.

Additionally, I communicated with students in other action project classes to glean their recommendations as to what makes a successful padlet, and they cited that platforming the 5 C's across my reflections would be a good way of realising where I've grown, so I went back and highlighted them. When doing this, I saw some activities which I had not already reflected on, so I did so with the hindsight of how I used my learnings in them in the SPIN0FF activity.

However, we gleaned 3 or 4 different questions which were in fact useful in our product development, outlined in Lilac on the poster. In the other group's projects, I was able to see their ideas and solutions, and apply some of their thinking to our own product, Main Street.

As we approach the date of the EXPO, we need to make sure that everyone is doing tasks which are their own abilities. We are all in the process of bringing our different ideas to life, because we all have a vision of what the final stall should resemble and as such we can visualise what we should have on our table and bring that to fruition. We've all been exceedingly supportive of each other's ideas and I am exceedingly excited as to how our EXPO will turn out!

My strategy with this brochure was to nip any questions which arose from that pitch firmly in the bud to ensure that we were getting the most fulfilment from our stall. This mainly entailed incorporating a "FAQ's" section to make our idea as clear as possible.

Branding/Marketing & Designing our Space

18/11/2022

A big part of my vision for the EXPO was to focus on really having a great brand presence, and a recognisable logo. We somewhat claimed the Red awning design as those colours and that motif were used across all of our assets, and we gave visitors stickers with our logo on them.

The philosophy with our sticker designs was that people would get them and put them on their shirts, which would effectively make them advertisements for our stall, because one someone saw them they would get intrigued and look for that logo or motif someone in the building.

This was where my idea of the Main Street "Road Sign" came in. We designed a prominent post with a road-sign inspired poster on it which we put outside of our room, just near the main walkway so that visitors would be directed to our stall and be able to tie the logo to the stall from far away.

Our stall was exceedingly stylistically cohesive, as a big part of our collaborative goal was to communicate the idea of an intimate space to our visitors. This was a goal we established early on in the ideation phase, and we wanted to create an immersive space where visitors would feel disconnected from the rest of the EXPO. Although we couldn't achieve this fully because of the setup limitations which all stalls had to abide by, we still kept customers in the vicinity of our stall using the variety of resources we created, like brochures, statistics flashcard, a thematically cohesive lucky dip, prototypes of the app and our pitch presentation on a laptop nearby.

Our stall ended up being really aesthetically pleasing, and we were fortunate enough to get various comments from visitors claiming that it felt homely, really pretty, or super extra (which was mainly a positive for us because it showed that they were acknowledging the extensive effort which we put in). We brought in plants and side tables as well as fairy lights to really deck out our space and bring customers in with our fantastic design.

3/11/2022

Our design process for creating our app logo was exceedingly interesting, as it incorporated various facets of technology and art.

We started with the ideation stage, where Amullya and I communicated what we wanted from our overall brand aesthetic to Sreya, who was doing some initial sketches. She came up with 4 designs, which we asked for feedback for from various different groups in our class, landing on the Awning inspired design.

We took that into a second stage of ideation where we focused on the main recognisable elements from our banner (i.e colours, font, letters) and came up with a final sketch.

We translated that into canva and landed on an initial logo. However, this was not the logo which we actually ended up with, because I begin experimenting with artificial intelligence in order to enhance our design.

I submitted our logo to Dall.e 2, an online art creator which draws influence from images around the internet. You can input a prompt, or an image for which it creates variations, and I did the latter. This variation of the 4 really stood out to me as it was cleaner, thicker and more aesthetically pleasing than our other design, so this is the one which we landed upon.

Action Project Reflection

18/11/2022

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cDnQRDlKWpBiwE8UN1oACpcEZeDFVAEV/view?usp=sharing

Action project, across this semester, has been an exercise in a variety of different 21st century learning skills and facilitated a lot of personal growth; as such, I believe I've gained a lot from this experience. The former, 21st century learning skills (or the 5 C's) have really been an integral part of the work over this course, and I believe the most crucial of these which I've grown in was Communication. As a team of strong minds, we had a lot of ideas and goals which we wanted to achieve with this course. We all have different strengths in different areas, which meant that we could use each other's skills to bring our own visions to fruition in the most efficient way. As some examples from INNOV8, I had to communicate style visions for posters with Sreya while Amullya had to communicate with me about the key information I should incorporate into our slides presentations.

Additionally, I had to develop my problem solving, namely in stressful or high-pressure situations like the EXPO, where our plans didn't particularly work given the situation. We had to create a quickly thought out solution in order to make sure that our stall was still the most successful that it could be.

Obviously, the action project course was designed to foster entrepreneurial skills in students and build problem solving (and I definitely did reap these benefits) but I also found that there were other skills which I developed that I think I will be able to use. An example of this is the understanding of marketing and branding which I gained, as this is especially important with in-school roles I want to take on in the future (like MTC production manager or Prefect). Plus, I feel like the aforementioned problem solving skills have really blossomed throughout this course.

There were a lot of challenges that myself and my group across this course. In terms of personal, I felt a lot of stress, especially surrounding EXPO. An assignment like that has SO MANY moving parts and things to do, which really took a toll on my mental (and physical) health. These effects meant I had to really manage myself on the night, which in some senses furthered my issues. I think that, in future projects like this, I need to develop some more positive self management skills to avoid these issues.

Additionally, I think our group had some issues with clarity of assignments, but when we found something of a blank spot, we brainstormed possible solutions and actioned them to the necessary degree in order to be 100% prepared for whatever could come to us. There were various points where we planned for something that was turned on its head, but we recalibrated and ensured that our final product was our personal best every time this occurred.

Overall, Action Project has been an important part of my high school journey because I've built some really valuable relationships with people outside of my mentor group, and also strengthened those within. I think I've grown as a learner and connector and I really hope that I can carry these things with me into senior school.
