It's typically combined with sulfate and carbonate. Barium is prepared by electrolysis of barium chloride. The most significant compounds of the element are the peroxide, chloride, sulfate, carbonate, nitrate, and chloride.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Barium is not an extensively used element, but it is used in a few things. Barium is used in drilling fluids for oil and gas wells. All barium compounds are toxic, but barium sulfate is insoluble and so can be safely swallowed. A suspension of barium sulfate is sometimes given to patients suffering from digestive disorders.Barium is a heavy element and scatters X-rays, so as it passes through the body the stomach and intestines can be distinguished on an X-ray. Barium carbonate has been used in the past as a rat poison. Barium nitrate gives fireworks a green color. It is used in paint pigment. It's used in glass and pottery glaze. It's used in vacuum tubes. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Barium is important because it helps make a few things that you've most likely used by now. Barium in used in fireworks. It gives fireworks that green color. Barium sulfate can be very useful to doctors to coat the inner lining of the intestines to allow them to examine a patient's digestive system. Before receiving x-rays, a patient may be instructed to drink a chalky barium sulfate liquid, which absorbs a great deal of the radiation emitted by the x-ray machine.This adds contrast to the black-and-white x-ray photo, which helps the doctor make a better diagnosis. This can really help doctors. This is why I think that my element is important and useful in the real world and in everyday life.&nbsp;<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
