Another example is Roti Ganjel Rel from Semarang and Roti Gamblang from Betawi. Both are spring rolls, but Lumpia Semarang has bamboo shoots and a distinct sweet sauce, while Popiah contains fresh vegetables and a lighter filling.
It was also exciting because I could connect what I learned to my own culture and traditions.
