Continuing To Raise Awareness

Although the bushfires have been over for several months and our focus has shifted to more 'important' events, its still incredibly important to raise awareness about the situation as numerous towns have not yet fully recovered. We are still also trying to regain our wild animal populations, with many species suffering from lots of loss. We can raise awareness by continuing to advertise how much help is needed and doing smaller fundraisers to get some extra money in for charities and donations.

Koalas + How They've Been Affected

One of our few native animals that have been around for millions, Koalas are unique creatures that are recognised all over the world as a symbol of Australia's pride. Unfortunately, as a result on humankind's recklessness and impulsivity, these adorable animals are currently vulnerable to extinction, and this situation has only been exacerbated by the recent bushfires of 2020. Up to a thousand of our cutest critters have died because of our own incompetence, with a few ten thousand more that have had had their habitats, their homes, completely devastated. This is all our fault, so we need to make it up to them to ensure that a tragedy like this doesn't happen again. We need to stop with our outdated ways of coal mining, and look ahead to the sustainable energy sources of the future. We need to take extra precautions when it comes to out environment, and educate the public about the dangers of pollution. We need to make sure our governments, councils, whatever are held accountable for their decisions and strive to make progress in terms of law enforcement. But, most of all, we need to do all we can to help the animals that are already in direct danger, and give back to them what we took away.

I think it's important that we advertise the help that charities need because we lost so many animals during the bushfires.

It's absolutely essential for us to continue to support those affected by bushfires, despite more current events taking our focus off of them. Millions of animals have lost their homes and habitats and we must help our precious wildlife. Many towns are still recovering from this January's events and we must continue to provide our support. We don't need to be in-person to do this- we can donate money and raise awareness from our own homes to help others get theirs back.

i think it’s vital for us to all stick together at this time? i know some will be affected more than others, depending where you live, but as long as everyone’s supportive of all awareness strategies, etc, we can get through this!!!!

Australia has to be prepared to come to fight more natural disasters, especially with the rise in climate change. How Scott Morrision handled the situation was absolutely horrendous, and we have to learn from this situation to properly recover and be able to fight anything else that might come our way.

agreed, we need to realise the mistakes we made (cutting funds from firefighters, encouraging coal companies to release chemicals responsible for climate change, not listening to scientists when they warn us of what's coming,etc..) and learn from them, so we can move forward and hope we deal with a situation like this better in the future

It's important to protect these very cute and fluffy animals and raising awareness is the right way to start.

2020 has been a heck of the year, and we can all agree that the bushfires REALLY sucked. Although Australia will never 100% recover from this disaster, we are slowly picking things up and putting them back together, piece by piece. Animals are starting to function normally again. The colour green is beginning to sprout everywhere. Homes are beginning to be rebuilt. The future is looking brighter every day, and I'm really glad that we're all going through this together. that was sad :( we're all really lucky we live in the city, because I honestly don't know what I would've done if my own home burnt down and I had to move somewhere else. they're all really strong people, and I hope they're doing a lot better now.

The Australian bushfires has absolutely devastating effects on people, animals and their homes and belongings across the country. Despite its impacts still being so massive, due to the rapid news cycle and other issues (the BLM movement, Coronavirus, etc) it has lost most of its attention, so it is important that we continue to spread awareness.
