This was a campaign that was made to make bthe workplace a fair and safe environment. They fought for many changes in the workplace for workers around America. Some of the causes were the conditions of the workplace to be better, decrease the number of work days and hours, to improve child labor laws, and they formed labor unions to protect workers.
The movement began in 1880 with organizations and labor unions. The Labor Reform was tough because the US government supported the business instead of workers. The government wanted to increase national wealth and didn't care about the workers' rights. The Unions stood strong and never gave up and made the work environment a much better place.

In the 1820's during the early 19th century alcohol was a big problem. Alcohol abuse was said to cause crime, breakup of families, and mental illness. The Temperance Movement was the stand against the consumption of alcoholic beverages. States banned the sale of alcohol to get rid of the problem, although these laws were repealed the movement would become strong again in the late 1800's.
Once this movement became strong they closed many pubs and made drinking laws. In 1930 the movement began to die encouraging criminals and discouraging economic activity. The Salvation Army still preserves this movement as they require that their members refrain from drinking alcohol as well as smoking, taking illegal drugs, and gambling.
