Sydney Carton has a very similar appearance to Charles Darnay. However, "this one man sat leaning back, with his torn gown half off him"(Dickens 77). This shows that unlike Mr. Darnay's well-kept demeanor, Mr. Carton does not care for his appearance and is in no means self-possessed like Mr. Darnay is. Furthermore Sydney carton had, "his eyes on the ceiling as they had been all day"(Dickens 77). This adds the additional information that he doesn't care to keep any composure and shows how he shows, "care for no man on earth"(Dickens 87).
