His background informs Joel Bartsch’s current work as president and CEO of the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS). As the CEO of HMNS, Mr. Bartsch has steadily grown and expanded the institution. During his first year in this position, he restructured the entire organization and returned it to profitability. Since then, he has more than doubled annual earned income at the museum and expanded its facilities by over 200,000 square feet. This expansion included public exhibition space and educational support, along with an immersive energy science education center. In addition, Joel A. Bartsch has raised upwards of $300 million from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and coordinated the creation of new, immersive exhibits for visitors.
