This website gives a great insight on some credit cards that look like an excellent option for a secured credit card. But, are really not the greatest idea in the long run. For example, some of the credit cards give lower rates than unsecured credit cards and some have no security deposit required.
I found this incredibly interesting as it shines light on the negative side of secured credit cards as I know little on the subject. Also, I enjoy how it shows how to work around using a secured credit card. For instance, it explains that once the person with the secured credit card builds up their credit again they should switch back to an unsecured credit card.

http://www.greedyrates.ca/blog/top-credit-cards-for-bad-credit-canada-unsecured-secured-credit-card/#.WNL3ImeQyUk
