The Pilgrim Review
Much confused with the “metaphor”, the allegory, usually used in tales, fables and moral lessons, is characterized by bringing a real sense to fantasy, transposing the whole concept of something to a new form, yet having the same meaning, as an example of this, we see the Lion of Narnia, this, clear allegory to God. In this context, this is precisely the figure of speech present in The Pilgrim's Progress, a book written by John Bunyan while he was in prison for preaching the gospel without permission in years of religious persecution in England.

About the story: From the dreams of a narrator, we follow the epic journey of Christian, a man coming from the city of Destruction who, after coming across the truths of the Bible and being guided by the good Evangelist, sets out on a narrow path to the home of the one who promised to take away all your burdens, Jesus Christ, in the heavenly city. For that, you'll first have to go through several other obstacles, such as the Valley of Death and the World's Fair and face demons, dragons and monsters whose only objective is to destroy.

Composed of a fantastic and thought-provoking narrative, the book excels when it comes to generating identification and bringing learning while holding us with a huge curiosity about what will be the destiny of a Christian. We're really excited to know at all times what the character's next challenge is going to be. This aspect brings with it the reader's brilliant immersion in the journey which, due to its direct and not very descriptive way of the scenarios, gives almost total freedom to fill the environment with each one's imagination. Despite the work being a clear message to Christians, its gospel characteristic does not take away its attractiveness for non-religious people, after all, history is full of what is present in the greatest epic classics, such as dragons, giants, demons, battles for life, redemption and the search for the greater good.

Able to bring each one closer to Christian, as if we were really his companions to the final door of the narrow way, The Pilgrim stands out among the best fables ever written through its endless repertoire of lessons which so well represent the journey of that who decides to take up his own cross and follow our Savior. No wonder it is one of the most read books of the last three centuries. Great read.

I already want to read this book. I've read a book with the same title and I really enjoyed the story. From what I've read from your review, I'm going to like it a lot too.
