Chapter 6 in Different Schools for a Different World by Scott McLeod. This chapter made me think about how there can be a digital divide with impoverished students and minority students. This made me reflect back to last spring when we had to close schools and some families and students struggled with the distance learning. This also made me think about the academic achievement gaps that have consistently existed with minority groups.

I am thinking about "The Myth of Cultural Poverty", and how many times people are poor not because they are lazy, but because once the wheel of poverty begins to spin it is nearly impossible to leave! The system is really stacked against those individuals and families. We need to view each student as independent learners from their situation to better help them grow through adversity as much as we can. That is where a truly equitable educational system can help them. By providing resources and chances to succeed.
