Last stages of editing:

The last stages of editing had to be very fast paced, we needed to ensure that we were being efficient with the time and the amount of work we were completing.

Colour grading:
The colour grading was probably the most important task to complete today. It was vital that we were to colour grade our music video with roughly the same pallet so that when it came to watching all the choruses and verse together, thy didn't look like they weren't all part of the same music video. Firstly we coloured the very first verse. This was because it was the verse with the most amount of day light, so we could clearly see an improvement in colour grading. We used the Lumerti graph to turn up the contrast a little and bring out more saturation. From here on we copied and pasted the attributes to the rest of the first verse. We did the exact same to the second verse but we couldn't past verse one's attributes to verse two because they both have completely different lighting. Never the less, we still managed to achieve a rough colour palette throughout the music video.
The second colour grading task we had was to colour grade the chorus. Originally the chorus was meant to be Pink and blue colours. However, we we tested all the base tracks together in these colours, we could clearly see a drastic fluctuation in the quality of the film. For this reason we have decided to drop the Pink and blue colours and just use the Green and Orange as our colour motif. This knowledge will come in handy, because when it comes to doing the ancillary markets we need to brand our identity clearly with these types of colours.

Opening title:

As well as colour grading we had given the opportunity to experiment in Adobe After effects a bit more. We wanted the opening title say the name of the song (jada) and have moving image within the title as an added animation effect. Just like the picture in the back ground. Firstly we inserted a track in premier pro that we wanted to use. We then clicked the right button on the mouse and pressed, edit in adobe after effects. We dragged the clip in the time line and added text over it. We then changed the font of the text and pressed layer image and text. The final stage was that we coloured the outside of the text in black. We also thought it was appropriate to use a slow motion on the video inside the text because it compliments the slow and gradual opening of the audio.

If i was to state one this I've learnt throughout this course work, i would say that i have learnt to be more efficient with editing softwares. I understand that this is a pretty vague statement because that also includes the methods of planning to ensure that i am spending less time editing but also getting more work done. Another thing it includes is the fact that i now have an understanding of more functions to my disposal on these softwares such as premier and after effects. I have learnt to layer base tracks, organise them and make whole video have rhythm by simply using the time line, the marking tool, and the razor tool. I find it fascinating how i am now able to manipulate certain functions that may not have been installed for my purpose, but can be used to achieve different out comes. Another huge efficiency i learnt as the way in which we layer base tracks. this saves a lot of time because for one, all the footage is already own the time line, and secondly it makes the whole process malleable to switch between different base tracks. Along side that, we had to firstly film the base tracks in post production. Firstly i would like to say that i had no idea what a base track was. After using this method i would definitely agree that base tracks help with the editing stage later on and over all it makes the whole video look really fluid when the whole thing has been edited. I also learnt a new way to lip sync the music to the images. It took quite some use to, but i learnt that its all about the timing and having a good eye to sync the images with the words.
