Eurocentric beauty standards are overrated.

Reasoning: (1) it creates lack of self esteem because these standards are unattainable. (2) these standards are not inclusive and are discriminatory.

Evidence: (1) people will not embrace their features and will go get plastic surgery to fit the standard and will use extreme makeup contour. (2) These standards are represented in fashion shows, ads, and even television and often do not show other kinds of ethnic features. As a middle eastern woman, I do not see my features and my cultures features as widely celebrated. There is a lack of representation.

If there is a standard, everyone should be able to reach it. Eurocentric beauty standards set others up to fail and are therefore overrated.

For this argumentative essay, I'll be arguing that "U.S. democracy" is overrated because, in spite of the great amount of political campaigning to gain the support of the people, U.S. citizens indirectly vote for their president and U.S. government officials frequently abuse their power to benefit minority groups such as their political parties and businesses rather then the whole of the American people. One example of this abuse was Trump's active support and approval of policies which would limit taxation of the wealthy and more specifically, reduce taxation on his prior business which, as a U.S., he legally is no longer allowed to loan to prevent conflicts of interest. Nonetheless, going against the institutions in place which would prevent such activity, President Donald Trump still utilized his powers as the president to his own benefit, disregarding the consequences of lowering taxes for wealthy businesses owners on the whole of the American people and especially impoverished groups. Another example of this abuse in power by government officials would be President Trump inviting foreign government officials to stay in one of his previously owned hotels for a diplomatic meeting, a clear violation of being unable to support previously owned businesses as the President, which due to the support he received from the Republican Party, was disregarded by Congress as sufficient clause to impeach Trump. One final fallacy regarding the abuse of power by government officials which is evident from Trump's example is the capital riots he'd promoted whilst still the U.S. president mere days prior to Joe Biden's inauguration, subsequently resulting in a lack of impeachment despite majority polls taken by popular vote at the time indicating in favor of the people supporting President Trump being impeached following the calamity he'd caused.

-With regard to the importance of the people voting for their president directly and having electoral colleges vote for them instead, instances such as the recent 2000 election in which the popular vote didn't reflect the electoral vote and a supreme court decision was necessary to decide the winner, it's evident that the people themselves have no actual power in their "democracy" when it comes to determining their leader.

Counterargument: Although there may be some instances in which a given government official has abused their power, such as Trump's advertising of his prior business hotels, having a government of which has committed themselves to some form of democracy and rights for its people is still much better then totalitarian societies in which even one's freedom of speech is limited such as in North Korea where every action its citizens take is heavily monitored by military personnel.

But in reality, college professors are more relaxed; 2)You are a grown adult now. They do not feel the need to watch your every move; 3)the applying process; 4)highschool teachers just want to scare you or hype up the fact that you won't be a kid anymore.

"Being skinny" is overrated. There are numerous reasonings including the fact that (1) beauty is subjective. In the past, a larger person signified wealth with an abundance of food. (2) Low body fat increases the risk for many heart problems, vitamin deficiencies, and osteoporosis. (3) The obsession with the human body can lead to eating disorders. This demonstrates a different side of the spectrum that mental health is underrated. These mental disorders develop consequences for health, productivity, and relationships. (4) Instead, there should be a greater encouragement for strength by focusing on performance rather than aesthetics, particularly in the fitness field.

For evidence, I will include the price of a newer phone with least amount of gigabytes and provide the price for a 1m charger. This will support the idea of how overpriced it is. To support my reasoning of having bad camera quality, I will use the Samsung camera quality in comparison to Apples camera.
Counter argument: Many will argument that they have a good software systems as it updates automatically or allows a scheduled update, but studies show that Apple purposely slows down older models so that consumers are persuaded into buying a newer model

Name-brand items can also lead to prejudice and social inequality.
Evidence: Many brands like Louis Vuitton or Rolex boast high costs and luxury even though they have the same quality as many items that are much cheaper.

The thesis Im going to use is that the Music Industry is "overrated".
-----------------------------
The two reasons that I am going to use is, the exploitative practices that music labels use and connecting such exploits with the disproportionate distribution of revenue within music streaming platforms within artists, like such popular streaming platforms as, Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube Music etc...
-----------------------------
- The evidence that I will use to support my reason for the Exploitative music labels is that of the mistreatment and unfair contractual deals that many popular and Indie artist must deal with. Very well examples could be that of the group "Destiny's Child" during their speech at the Grammys.
- For the disproportionate distribution of wealth, the evidence i have here is that of the exclusive deals that streaming platforms have with huge Music Labels (Sony, Universal, & Warner) about the distribution of the streams that an atrist ammases. And the unfair algorithms that the music platforms use in order to end up on popular playlists. I even have an example of Justin Bieber telling his fans to game the algorithm by showing them how to exploit , the systems for his economical gain, and get his songs on playlists that are extremely popular.
-----------------------------
The counterargument that i have chosen was that such music platforms and labels allow artists to receive opportunity. However, my rebuttal is that even big artists are discontent with such big labels Ex. Frank Ocean gaming Def Jam (his label) due to his discontent with the label. And lastly the exclusive deals that platforms and major labels have create a damper on those artists who aren't able to get signed by such major music labels.

Reasoning
- The implementation of gun control laws only restricts law abiding citizens
- The thought of gun control within the USA is an infringement upon the Second Amendment.
3. Evidence
- Chicago has one of the highest rates of gun related homicides within the US, however they have the some of the most strict gun control laws in the nation.
- The ineffectiveness of gun control can be illustrated in the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, which sought to ban certain characteristics of so called “assault weapons”. Within the 10 year period of this law, there were many mass shootings such as the North Hollywood Bank Robbery Columbine High School Shooting

As seen with trends in other middle and high schools where many people are excluded or shunned for not following the same general trends.
2.) On the internet in places such as tik tok, there are a large portion of "challenges" that many people choose to do in order to get validation from other and a portion of those are very dangerous for human health yet many are still accepting of it.

In things other than food, there is a shortage of product and a huge misleading advertisement game.
