well , i would say so do and some don't but i will talk about those who don't share the same view as me. to me like i have said earlier i like to spend time in nature and outdoor. however my best friend Gopika does not. i guess after all opposites do attract to each other. she would rather prefer to spend her time indoors gaming .not only that but she hates bugs and insects and get annoyed by them easily. i remember fondly our OBS memories. it was a compulsory program that the whole level had to go and she was not spared. over the 2 night she could not stop complaining about how she could be using the time gaming or something else. it was one of the worse days in her school life . however this difference has never been a problem in our friendship as we compromise for each other and think of it as ways that help us improve and learn new things.

similarly i do have my mother who is someone that has never like or enjoyed the outdoors unlike my father who loves it. he is the one person who has never failed to teach me the importance and the beauty of nature. walks are a part of our life. not only does it keep us fit we take the time to bond in the presence of nature. one of our favourite place to get out of the busy city life would be Pulau Ubin.

Of course I do! And I especially love to do it when it's drizzling, when the temperature is chilly, and when the raindrops on the leaves shimmer and makes nature shine. For one, it's a getaway from the obligations of life- a time when an ethereal atmosphere takes my mind away from this world to fantasy. It gives me a surreal sense of tranquility- one that can only be felt when in nature. And when it's drizzling, there's no one around me, which gives me the feeling of freedom, where no one is judging.

My favorite place to enjoy nature is Botanic Gardens. Every weekend, and on some weekdays when I have time, I would head there to rewind after a hectic and stressful week at school. I see it as a sanctuary, a place which I find shelter in from the demands of the world, and showers me with its serenity and beauty. Sometimes, I also bring along some homework to do there, given its quietness. But most of the time, I'd walk around the parks, enjoying the green leaves, and closing on the soft hum of nature. I feel one with nature. It's tranquil, beauty and incomprehensible existence just sink into me.

Another reason I love spending time in nature is because its one of the places to hang out with my friends without the distracting elements of civilization. When my friends there, we tend to use our phone less, and have more conversations and interactions with each other. Compare this to outings at shopping malls, where we'd be window shopping, getting drawn to advertising, and focusing more on products, and more or less our phones. Being in nature, at least for my friends and I, takes our minds off our phones. Conversations become more in-depth and personal, compared to the casual ones we usually have.

Of course that doesn't mean I don't like the fun of gaming with my friends online or walking around Marina Bay with my family, but appreciating nature is, I believe, one of the rare characteristics I have compared to other teenagers.

I would love to spend time outdoors. I’ve travelled a lot of places with my friends to play basketball but I’ve never actually taken in any view of the environment around it. I would love to go somewhere where I’m doing nothing but enjoying the environment.

Though most people view exploring through nature boring, I love the peacefulness and the calming feeling of it. Some of my friends and I go walking once in a while. All the beautiful sunsets or sunrise. The light tinted pink sky always captures our attention leaving us in awe, always motivating us to come back.

Well, I would certainly say some do and some don't. But, I'll talk about those who don't share their views. I'll take my friend, Shannon as an example. Homebody like her typically have no idea how to appreciate the natural beauty of the nature.

The corner of her cosy room is her preferred spot for diving into her fantasy world. Bookworm. Seldomly, would she step out of her house into the nature. It is made clear that for someone who is not physically active, would be someone who is outdoorsy. To add on, she prefers to be in a cooler environment. Little red dot country like Singapore, is hot and humid. Likely, would she wants to step out of her air-conditioned room into the nature.

Not to mention, she's afraid of wildlife animals. There was a time where we went to Macritchie reservoir, a monitor lizard approaches us in the middle of nowhere . Upon seeing the monitor lizard, which was about a few metres away from us, she yelled from the bottom of her lungs and scurried off.

On the contrary, I have another friend who shares the similar views with me about spending time in the nature. She is no other than Han Xuan. She enjoys the cacophony sound of the crickets, birds chirping and the scenic beauty of the nature. Nature, is the best spot for her to rejuvenate her mind, meditate and take a hiatus from her hectic lifestyles. The fresh smell of the nature, fragrance of the flowers are comforting enough for her to inhale deeply, in and out. She can never get enough of it. She firmly believes, exposure to the nature is beneficial to our wellbeing as nature has a healing effect on the mind and soul.

I am no exception, totally agree with Han Xuan. Taking a stroll in the nature is like a therapy and the best way to take a break from the bustling city, stressful lifestyle.

Well, I believe that some of my friends do and some don't. Unfortunately, most of them would not share my views about spending time in nature, though. In today's modern world, with our daily conveniences, its understandable that they would not want to leave these comforts and venture out into the hot, humid and unpredictable outdoors. After all, why would any sane person choose to make themselves sweat and suffer when they could be at home, basking in the air conditioning? Most of my friends would share this sentiment and prefer to stay at home, glued to their screens either playing online games or watching videos on social media. To them, going outdoors for fun and relaxation is a foreign concept, and that is evident whenever I attempt to get them out under the sun.

I still remember that one time I tried to get everyone in my friend group to spend a day at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Oh what a chore it was! Even after I spent hours trying to convince them, they were still adverse to the idea. The hot and humid weather, buzzing mosquitoes, potential wildlife encounters and the unpaved path were all deterrents that warded my friends off. In the end, after much cajoling on my end, they finally agreed. While it remains a memorable day for me, I doubt my friends recall it with as much joy and enthusiasm as I do.

In addition to that, this year is our O-levels year. I believe that my friends would not want to give up their precious free time that they could be spending on their hobbies instead.

Of course, some of them enjoy ,while the others suppose that as a kind of torture. Ming Yue, who really are afraid of insects. In almost every close contact with insects she will jump about ten centimeter high. There was once , she went to a park for a jog to get ready for her She will always have thought that she got bitten by insects ,every moment she have to check whether there are insects surrounding her. I also have another friend, Dylan, he really likes to observe the beauty of the nature .Whenever, he goes out, he will take pictures of different animals ,trees and the scenery. All in all, I have friends that dislike spending time in nature but also some friends who like to spend time in nature .

Sadly my friends don’t view nature the way i see it. To me when i am stressed i would usually look up at the sky and observe the intrigue pattens and figures the clouds make. Which would in very rare occasions form animal figures and they keep changing every second. It serves as a stress reliever. usually,When I am on my way to school i would dread each and every second on my way while being half asleep. I would daydream on the bus while looking at the sky.The sun blooms on the horizon, golden petals stretching ever outwards into the rich purplish blue. It is the brilliant flower of the sky that warms my days. It is the invitation to a new day, that sunrise so ordinary extraordinary. It motivates me.it also reminds me that if i work hard now i can get a good job and relax but if i don't work hard I will have a hard time finding a job in the future.this is how important clouds are to me but to my friends the clouds do not have a purpose.

During my free time, I would usually bring my younger sister to a nearby playground while my friends would be texting or wasting time on social media. I don't go there to play i go there for my sister but as a teenager playground is just too childish for me and i would be bored i would observe the trees and plants observe the umbrella like structure that it has grown into and now how it is protecting me from the evil uv rays. I wonderful how a fully grown few meters tall tree started from a seed that is a few centimetres in length . how much it would have seen if it had eyes and how amazing it would have been to see the things around it change so much . its like a grandmother but just older and it would have only seen the exact same area going through changes.once in a while a wind will blow and mess up my bush hair i would comb my hair back to place using my hands.

I have a friend that I would cycle with at least once a week. We would cycle from ang mo kio to kallang stadium. While cycling we would share our experiences in our schools since we are in different schools, we would slowly cycle and enjoy the scenery and the wind blowing on our faces. he feels this really weird feeling of freedom. Since young we both have always wanted to ride and travel around on a motorcycle at high speeds.we have watched many people riding motorbikes and i can see that they feel a sense of freedom it is gives them a mixture of exhilaration, fear, relaxation, and pleasure that changes you forever. It’s physical & emotional pleasure, with a layer of anxiety & adrenaline. But This is how it would feel when riding a motorcycle since i am riding a bike i feel almost the same but the intensity is much lesser. In the future it is his dream to travel around the world on a motorcycle while visiting all the natural attractions all around the world.

To end of i would like to say ‘sometimes in live its the small things that make u happy not the big things’

Although I spend the most of my time at home now, I prefer spending time outside than playing video games because I feel that the green surroundings will heal my eyes after staring at a screen for lengthy periods of time.

My mother used to take us to Punggol Waterway Park after a long day of school. At the park, we would indulge in a picnic with sandwiches made with love and a wide variety of fresh fruits like pear, papaya and pineapple. The breeze accompanied with fresh fruits relaxes my nerves and mind. At home, I would be able to focus on my homework at a effective pace.

But with lesser time to spare, the time I spent outdoor lessened. Most Singaporean students can agree that we have a jampacked schedule. School ending at 5 pm and reaching home at 6 pm. To top it off, we barely have any time left to relax. So, on days where I could still catch the views of the greenery, if at home, I would stare out the window for a bit. If I'm out, I would plug in my head phones and take a scroll around my neighbourhood.

Because of global warming, the humidity levels in Singapore is through the roof. I wouldn't mind the feeling of perspiration dripping on my skin however, as someone with eczema, being sweaty and sticky terribly irritates my skin. Even after a shower, the itch would last for hours. It distracts me from simple tasks, reading, studying and chores. The itch outweighs the fun I would experience from being outside.

However, to counter my problems, I try to take walks when the humidity levels are lower and a cool breeze flies over. That way, I can enjoy the fun of being in the nature and the greenery.

Well, I would say that some do and some don't, but I will share about those that don't share my idea. I have about two friends that are perhaps the most outgoing people I've ever seen.

One of them is this friend from my primary school. Whenever I get onto social media platforms to browse, I always see pictures of him in the outdoors, in nature reserves, either posing with the flora at the scene or just random selfies. He has told me that he occasionally visits the MacRitchie reservoir to take in the scenery and has even invited me to go with him, though due to my opinion on nature, I have always politely declined his requests. But I can tell that he has massive admiration for the natural wildlife. He has told me his willingness to become a biologist and his dream to help animals.

There is another friend that I think really admires nature; he isn't a remarkably close friend, but I met him during the Secondary Three Outward Bound Singapore Camp. For me, that camp was an absolute nightmare with countless aches and bug bites. But for him, it was like he was used to it. One might as well call him Bear Grylls because he knew all the tips and tricks to get around the wild. During our kayaking capsize recovery training, not a single look of worry was on his face, and he could get through it in a breeze. When we were about to sleep in our tents, I asked him why he liked the outdoors so much. He told me that it helps relieve his mind of stress and he enjoys the scenery.

Though I have different viewpoints than both, with time I have started to appreciate nature more. In time, maybe I will join them in some outdoor exploration in the Amazon!

Well, I would say some do and some don't. But I will talk about those who don't share my views. Unlike me, they dislike being exposed to the natural elements like rain and the heat, which they find inconvenient. They also feel that being outdoors causes them to fall sick easily when being exposed to such natural conditions and so they rather be at home, tucked away from the weather. They also find outdoor activities to be tough and tiring. instead, they rather be at home in the comfort of their own rooms cooled by air conditioners playing video games. There was once when I invited my friends out for a hike at MacRitchie reservoir, and when I met them there, they were fully armored from head to toe with sunblock and mosquito repellent, which I thought was quite funny. Throughout the entire hour of walking, they were complaining about how humid the trail was and how tired they were. Their constant whining annoyed me and that was when I concluded that they obviously weren't interested in the outdoors. And so never invited them again to join me on hikes or any other outdoor activities.

My friends would spend time in nature. They used to sit at home all day playing games and chatting each other but now, all of us have decided to have a more active lifestyle. They are definitely open to try new things and spending time in nature is definitely a first for them. This would help them get out of their comfort zone and experience new things, get away from the urban city environment, learn to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of nature.

However, I couldn't say the same for other teenagers, teenagers nowadays are too engrossed with their devices. Be it a laptop, computer, smart television or handphone. They always end up spending hours of their day scrolling social media, texting and calling friends, playing video games, why speak with friends virtually when you could just take a stroll in the park with them and get everything off your chest. Some just simply dislike going out, not just being in nature. Having to deal with the bugs and the dirt, it's just not their type of thing to do, or maybe they are just too afraid to step out of their comfort zone and experience new things.

An example of a friend which likes to try new things and would not mind going outdoors into nature is my friend, Preston. Just a few years back, he was your typical teenager, spending hours on video games and the internet. He was not a big fan of going out either, he'd rather use the spare time to sleep and make up for the amount of hours of sleep he loss from playing video games. But after stepping out of that comfort zone, he stopped locking himself in the house. Nowadays, we would go out for nice long strolls in the park or even cycling through parks, to enjoy the beautiful scenery and to immerse ourselves in its peaceful setting.

Someone that I would say doesn't enjoy being outdoors and in nature much would be a friend of mine called Javier, the main reason he doesn't like it is because of all the insects especially those which reside in the dirt. I once remember when we have an excursion trip to Gardens by the Bay, the moment a butterfly or any sort of insect flew past him, he would instantly flinch or even jump backwards. When we would have a break in the middle, he would never sit down, being afraid that ants would crawl on him. There would be clean benches nearby the dirt and he would not even sit down. I remembered watching him eating while standing up by himself.

Well, I love to spend my time outdoors be it a walk in a park or go a run. Nature is a place for me to relief my stress from school, a place most suitable to spend my free time at. Some of my friends agree with my view of nature.

Zuriel, my primary school friend. We haven lost contact since after we graduate. Me and him share the same hobby, running. We would head towards Bishan Park for a brisk walk or a easy jog during the weekend as a form of exercise for us. As a runner myself, this would be a good time for me to recover from my school training. Sometimes, we would also travel to Macritchie Reservoir. The clean and fresh smell of the water, birds singing tunes always cheers us up. Although this year is a crucial year for us, but we will still go out together for a run if we have time.

Darrly, my junior, he always hate nature. But to me, i feel that he was being lazy. Although he has the same CCA running as me, he would always hang out with his group of friends that likes to game. One game they especially like would be Mobile Legend, they would find time after school so that they could all play together. Recently, my brother was also influenced by them and starting to be addicted to this game. He would ask whether they could play together during the weekends. If I ask him to go to the park, he will always reject me with excuses like he is busy with his friend or that he has no time. But I know he was playing game since my brother is playing with him.

Well, I would say some do and some don't. But I will share more about my friends who enjoy spending time in nature. Although like other teenagers, I prefer to spend most of my time at home on my electronic devices. However, I would spend time in the nature to relax my mind with the tranquility of the park. It has fresh air that was really different from the polluted air of the urban city.

One of my such friends was Isaiah, even though we both like staying home, Isaiah was the one who loved spending time in the nature the most. As he resides near Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park, he would mostly spending a considerable fraction of his time cycling, walking or just sitting on the benches in the park. He often tells me that it relaxes him from the stresses from all those additional class that his mother put him through. Whenever I visited him, he would always bring me around the park to spending sometime in the nature. I remember that one time where he invited me to join him on a trail at Sungei Buloh wetland reserve, we got to see what nature had to offer us. With different trails that we could take, it showed us the variety of different critters which thrive in nature. It was such an thrilling experience for both of us.

Although I spend much time at home, I do make time for outdoor activities. I enjoy going for nature walks in parks, especially alone.

Plugging in my earphones and walking around the nature park; watching people going for walks with their pets, observing the greens and lakes around that are filled with fishes swimming, trying not to get flushed down by the consistently flowing water. I eventually immersed myself in nature, helping me feel calm. With the heavy workload, I'm often stressed out. Thus, going for nature walk helps me to relieve stress and calming my nerves.

Secondly, I think it's a way to stay away from my phone. As a typical Singapore teenager, I take my phone with me everywhere I go. This caused not only damage to my eyes but also escalating my addiction to social media. However, when I spend time in the nature such as going for picnics with my friends, I realized that the usage of my phone reduced massively. I spend more time catching up with my friends instead of always gluing my eyes on the phone screen. Less damage to my eyes, and reducing my phone usage, spending time outdoors in nature have benefited me in all ways.

Lastly, going for nature walks is also my form my exercise. As a person who prefers walking over running, this boost my temptation to go out and exercise instead of staying home. It isn't healthy to always stay home and study, this weaken our immune system. Therefore, going outdoors in nature for some Vitamin D doesn't hurt at all! At the same time, I am burning calories and strengthening my muscles too. Exchanging for a healthy body, I absolutely don't mind!

It's easy to arrange simply a walk to the park anytime I like to. Since spending time outdoors can benefit me in so many ways, why would I say no?

Well, I would say some do and some dont but I will talk about those who dont share my view. I have a friend, Abigail, who absolutely adores spending time in nature. She goes for daily walks in the morning at the park near her house. I on the other hand would much rather stay at home and binge watch shows in the comfort of my air conditioned room.
I once asked her why she goes for daily walks and enjoys being in nature, she told me that being in nature calms her down as she is able to breathe in fresh air from the trees, and look at different yet interesting plants and animals that are not commonly sighted outside of nature. which is something I cannot relate to. There are a few reasons that causes there to be a difference in our opinions some of which are
One reason that causes difference in our opinions is insects. For me, I loathe insects and the amount of insects flying around is simply astonishing. And despite covering every inch of myself with mosquito repellent, I will still be covered with insect bites when I return from a walk. However, to my friend Abigail that is just a minuscule problem. turns out Abigail rarely gets insect bites which is why she can enjoy nature without worrying much about insect bites, and she actually enjoys looking at the insects as they fly around or as they are resting to spot the different colours and appearances of it.
Another reason that causes the difference in our opinions is the heat in Singapore. Singapore is a very hot and humid country with temperatures reaching 35 degree Celsius which causes people to be drenched in sweat after a walk in the park. That is a major factor as to why I would rather stay home instead of heading out to the park as I extremely dislike sweating. On the other hand to Abigail, sweating is a good thing as it helps to get rid of toxins in the body which results in her actually wanting to sweat more during her daily walk.
Therefore, me and my friend would not share the same views about spending time in nature as to me it is just a waste of time while to my friend it is an essential in her life.

Well, I would say some do and some dont. But I will talk about people who dont have the same view as me. Personally I love the nature. I find nature extremely breathtaking and refeshing. When I overthink, going out to get some fresh air really helps me lighten my mood. Night strolls or cycling at the park is one of my favourite things to do. The sounds of insects, fluttering of grass whenever wind gushes through, the cool wind. Washes all my worries away as i enjoy my soothing time alone.

However, some teenagers would prefer staying at home instead. They find comfort in their own home as they have the freedom to act as they like. They have privacy to themselves, no one can jduge them for what ever they do. For example, they can play games and shout as much as they want without bothering strangers.

Some teenagers also prefer staying indoors because they do not have to bother about the weather conditions. When it is scorching hot outside, they can just stay in their room with the air conditioner or fan on. When its raining, they can enjoy the cooling breez inside of the comfort of their home insted of being drenched in the rain.

When teenagers hang out with their friends, they tend to make plans to go places where it is located indoors. For example, my friends would rather hang out in a internet cafe rather than doing activities out in the nature. Some might choose to have a picnic out in the nature. However, they would end up complaining about the bad weather or the amount of mosquito bites they have.

There are many ways teenagers can takle these problems and learn to enjoy the nature. Ifs its hot, bring a portable fan. Bring an umbrella to prepare for weather changes.

He would always texts us asking if we want to join him to go out somewhere like the zoo, bird park, a nature reserve or a garden. Although I prefer staying indoors, going out for fresh air every once in a while would be rather beneficial so I would always go for a walk with him and my brother whenever I'm free.

He had once invited us out to go to a nature for a science project. He had known well what to do and was fairing well in the heat, meanwhile I could barely tell where we were and couldn't stand the heat. While I busy cursing out the sun, he had already decided which direction we should go to next so we can see as much wildlife and plants as possible. In fact, he had spent so much time outdoors, that these skill have already became second nature to him.

On the other hand, I have a friend who would respond with "should I go? Nah, I'm too lazy" and decline any offer to go out.

Although I spend most of my time at home, I like spending time outdoors too. Especially in nature, there are a cluster of things that makes it stand out as my favourite place to spend time there.

To begin with, the chirping of the birds, howling of the owls and insects trilling are continuous and satisfying to listen to. One example is when I jog along the Macritchie reservoir, and the occasional mate-calling or urgent signals from different animals occur. The blasting echoes around the humongous park can be heard from one point to another, and this actually allows me to know how various animals communicate. It is truly an interesting experience out there!

Next, the Macritchie reservoir located in the heart of Singapore where many different animals live, has a better and more convenient distance track then roadside pathways. As a frequent jogger, I can continue for as long as I want compared to having to stop at traffic lights. On the contrary, this significantly improves my physical state as I would be less reluctant to quit. At parts of the track, signs which tell me how long the next route is would be more encouraging to as I would be more willing to complete it.

Finally, I would like to spend time in nature outdoors as I can better focus on my jog. For example, in these greener spaces, a cognitive advantage is that there are no irritating car horns. From there, I can reduce stress and this would allow me to fully concentrate, additionally to be meticulous of the minuscule pebbles or small steps that might be obscured from fallen leaves that are not swept off.

In hindsight, my mental calibre is positively affected by a simple jog in nature. With the captivating animals encouraging me to continue on the jog, nature sure does have interesting benefits to everyone.

Well, I would say some do and some don't. Firstly, I will talk about those who don't share my views. One of the top reasons why my friends dislike nature is the insects. One of my primary school classmates, Mary, absolutely despises insects, and because of that, always experiences a nagging feeling that there is something crawling on her leg when she is surrounded by nature. For example, during our primary four camp, Mary and I were in the same group during our walk through a park. Unexpectedly, Mary would shriek, moving about frantically as she exclaimed that there was something crawling up her leg. Our instructor would check on her and find nothing wrong. Though I got used to her sudden ear-piercing screams, a slight sense of annoyance developed when we had to stop every ten or so minutes to check on Mary. But it was always just her imagination. This occurred many times throughout the walk and thus hindered our progress. When we got back to our base camp, the other groups had already begun eating their dinner.

Now, I will mention those that do share my views. My friend, John, loves being in nature. Just like me, he loves the beautiful scenery and the refreshing sense of freedom. Furthermore, he is a sporty person, he enjoys the opportunity to stretch his legs and exercise. For example, during our secondary three camp, we had to go on a long walk through coney island. He and I would enthusiastically point out sights that had caught our eyes and woo at the colorful flowers. We were so caught up in our excitement that we were oblivious to the fact that we had walked much faster than the rest of our group.

We like to play online games together and would always head out only to play basketball or visit the shopping mall. But I do know a few friends that would probably be excited to spend a day in nature. Some of my school friends go to the Zoo, Conservation centres and the Nature reserves in Singapore every other month. They say that seeing the wildlife work is intriguing to them. They don't just like the animals too, they would visit the botanic gardens just to see the beauty of flowers there and try to identify them individually, using online dictionaries of course. I have joined them a few times despite my reluctance and they always seemed so excited to venture into the wild. Not to mention, taking pictures is a must for them - selfies, landscape photos or even close up photos of the flora and fauna. I think that if I were to join then more, I can finally step out of my comfort zone and appreciate the wild.

Yes of course, I would love to spend my time outdoors in nature! Though the comforts of my home do sound pleasing, I would always prefer going outdoors, especially to witness the ethereal glory of Mother Nature.

As a graduating student, school life has been taking a huge toll on my mental health - the pressure of higher expectations from parents, the never-ending homework load, as well as the countless number of examinations. Hence scheduling time for myself to be with nature feels rejuvenating. Simply just being with nature is like a getaway from reality, the feeling of freedom surrounding me never failed to disappoint me.

Be it gardens or nature sites, they all appeal to me as my haven home. I oohed and aahed over the spectacular sight before me, often asking myself: "Am in paradise?"

I would definitely prefer spending time indoors as it is where I feel most comfortable. As some say, “do things at the comfort of your home.” I certainly agree with this saying as I’ve never really been an outdoor person. Just the thought of going out makes me feel weary. Leaving the house means getting prepared and my listless self would groan at the process of dressing for the various outings. Additionally, staying at home gives me plenty of time to study for the upcoming O-level examinations. While studying have got me wrap around its finger, rest is also crucial. My messed up sleep schedule can gradually be fixed and the built up stress will eventually subside. So, staying at home to pace my fast moving life is much more appealing than going outdoors.

Next, I dislike the sun shining its blinding rays onto me. The hot and humid weather making me all sweaty and sticky. The feeling of perspiration dripping from my head down my back and my shirt clinging onto my soaked body makes me feel nauseous. Even if I don’t look up, the bright rays of light still enters my eye, forming white and black spots in my vision. Plus spending an immense amount of time in school is enough outdoors for one day.

Furthermore, being outdoors means there’s a higher chance of having contact with creepy crawlies. It doesn’t matter if they can crawl, jump or fly, I can never stand them. Specifically, those pesky blood sucking creatures and bugs with numerous legs. The irksome buzzing noise beside my ear, flying frantically around me or feasting on my delectable blood. My skin spotted with red bites all over after it has had its fill.

I would prefer to stay away from the natural environment. Although I may seem like someone extroverted and enjoy the outdoors, I prefer my soft, cozy and spacious bed more.

Puny little bugs are my biggest fear. Whenever my parents drag me out to go on nature trails, I would try my hardest to walk in the middle, away from the trees, on both lanes. As they are probably infested with all kinds of bugs. If a bug were to land on me, I would hyperventilate and freak out. Because of these, I am extremely paranoid in nature. When my parents bring me to botanic gardens for a picnic, I would insist on bringing the tarp as I am not willing to sit on the bare grass.

Secondly, I also tend to sweat buckets when I am outdoors, doing a hike or a walk under the hot sun. I detest the sticky and humid feeling of having sweat all over my body. To prevent myself from having that gross feelings after an activity, I picked up a hobby that can be done indoors in the comfort of my home.

I found that I am much more interested in computer software than going on a walk in the park. On an ideal day, I would stay at home all day with my eyes glued on my monitor, and the air-conditioning set to 16 degrees. I can programme for hours and hours in a session, unlike physical activities, in which I need to rely on my stamina to keep me going. To date, I have completed a total of 3 projects, 2 websites and a python script.

For someone who loves the natural elements, may find my hobby extremely uninteresting and unpleasant. That being said, I feel that I have been too used to living in an urban environment that I have sometimes completely neglected nature. I do hope that in the future, I would be able to find the balance between staying at home, indulging myself in my hobby, and being exposed to nature, preferably through a morning walk into the MacRitchie trails.

Well, I would say some do and some don't. But I would talk about those who don't talk about my view. Usually my friends see me as a potato couch but at times in the morning I would go on walks with my parents to look at the beautiful sunrise.
My friend Audrey despise nature. Despite nature’s scenic beauty and its calming environment, she would never agree to go out in the morning for walks or go to the park and have some fun. She would usually claim it is a waste of time which most might agree, but different people has different views. It is understandable why she would say it is a waste of time as now that we are in Secondary school, we are packed with a large pile of homework and revision along with tuition that our parents would sign up for to allow us to learn better for our weaker subjects. Even if she has some free time in between, she would never use them for a walk. Instead, she would just take a short nap or spend time on Tiktok and Instagram
I still remembered once when our friend group went out together to Sentosa and as we were on the beach, we saw some ants crawling on the sand. Audrey immediately flew and shrieked as she saw them and went onto the rough ground. No matter how hard we tried to get her back onto the sandy ground, she would refuse. It was funny how she is even scared of the smallest insect but such a pity that she does not appreciate the beauty of nature. We stayed up till evening at the beach and manage to catch the cotton candy sunset. Pink streaks across the blue sky fading into a dark shade of blue.
Despite the beauty of nature in front of us, Audrey still did not appreciate it and would still rather be on her phone than admiring the calming scenic beauty in front of us.
Therefore, Audrey do not talk about my view towards spending time in nature as she would think it is a waste of time and that time can be used for us to catch up with our studies or take a nap instead of wasting it on looking at nothing but green. But after all, everyone do have different opinions on nature and Audrey and I are the perfect example of opposing views.

to some extend i believe that it is largely the governments responsibility to conserve nature. even thought saying that there is a small part which is our responsibility as citizen of country to conserve the nature around us. one such example would be to conserve electricity at home or places that we can. even thought this may not seem as much when it is all coloaded together it can make a huge difference.

the main reason why i think most of the action must be by the government would be the pressure and power they posses.one action that it can take is to enforce laws and pose large fines if the laws are broke. This should mainly target the large companies that are produce green house gases that harms the environment.

for the government part they have to come up with ideas and campaigns to make sure they safe and conserve nature . in 2021 the Singapore government switched for fuel oil to natural gas and about 95% of its electricity is generated from natural gas which is a huge increase for the pervious years.

personally i am not a huge environmentalist but i believe that small actions such as following the 3Rs [ reduce , reuse , recycle ] will help to save the environment. some small action that i take include reducing my use of single use plastic as much as possible. i reuse the plastic bags for my trash. this are some ways i think if everyone were to play a part will cause a huge change

Even though Singapore may be a small nation we are one with no natural resources and rely greatly on human resources. even then we as a nation have given great importance to conserving flora and fauna.

I partially agree with this.

Yes, a good portion of conserving our natural environment has to be done by the government. For example preserving our parks, wildlife, and forested area. These huge natural places have to be conserved by the government as we citizens, lack the financial and manpower capability to conserve these areas. However, this does not mean that we can simply not care about our natural environment. After all, we are all living in Singapore, why would we want to ruin our own green country right?

Citizens can do many little things to help the conservation efforts of the government. They can volunteer their time during the weekends to do beach cleaning, and other events to help clean our environment. The government on the other hand can help by providing the funds and the green light to such volunteering events, this way the government and the citizens can both play a part in conserving our natural environment.

Individuals can also aim to try to use as few non-biodegradable and disposable products as possible. Items like plastic straws, plastic cups, and plastic bags cause a lot of harm to our environment. Regardless of whether the government is trying to get rid of greenhouse gases after burning those items, we citizens play a vital role and should minimize to use of those products. Instead of using plastic products, we can transition to other durable materials products which allow for multiple uses. This will cut down Singapore's greenhouse gases emission.

With this, I hope that Singaporeans would be more open-minded to try out products that allow for multiple uses and want to participate in such volunteering work. However, even if they do not want to do so, the least they can do is to not litter.

I do agree that it is mainly the government's responsibility, however I also feel that we ordinary people also have an important role. As a citizen living in Singapore, I can say that the impact to natural conservation will largely affect us, and so our role is also a vital one.

Singapore is known by many as the country that impose fines for every wrong thing that we do. And this tactic to counter crimes is one that has proved to be effective time and time again. Though this method of prevention has shown its capabilities in the concrete jungle, it has been otherwise in the natural jungle. When we go on hikes, the likelihood of being caught for littering or damaging nature is pretty low because it is physically too difficult to keep a watchful eye over everyone in nature. And because of this, many people become more relaxed and less cautious of their actions and begin to act irresponsibly. This leads to consequences of their irrational behaviour; the damage inflicted on the natural beauty. Even though pieces of trash along a hiking trail may seem minute, it reflects deeply about the attitude of Singaporeans towards our environment. It makes me wonder about the reason why we keep our city clean. Are we cleaning ourselves up simply because we don't want to get fined, or do we really care about our environment?

Other than keeping our grass green, we are also the voices of the country. Every decision that the government makes impacts us in one way or another. And so, we have the ability to influence the government to change environmental policies that we don't see eye to eye to. A good example to mention is activist Greta Thunberg. If you aren't familiar with who she is, Greta Thunberg is an activist from Sweden who is going all out to make changes to policies regarding the climate by travelling far and wide to give speeches about how the current climate situation is going to impact us in the next 50 years or so. Many find her annoying or simply nag-gy. But if we look at the bigger picture, she has paved a way for us day to day people to make a contribution in battling the deterioration of our earth.

After all, it is the decisions of the government that rules us all. But some of the decisions made may be in the interest of wealth and not necessarily the well-being of Mother Nature. And so I believe that our actions and our attitude towards the conservation of our Home is of upmost importance and that the responsibility or natural environment is also partially ours.

Yes. I would most definitely choose to spend time outdoors instead of indoors. Although the comforts of my home and the air-conditioning sure sound appealing, my choice would still be the outdoors. I often spend my time cooped up indoors due to my hectic schedule but I find so much joy in going out for a walk in the park.

To start of, keeping an active lifestyle is of vital importance, benefiting our health and well-being, both physically and mentally. However, many times I would be lazy to exercise or to do a work out, but a reservoir I frequent; Macritchie Reservoir is a place that is abundant in its beautiful nature. I am somehow more motivated to walk or run up the gravel and explore new scenic places with friends and family. I once came across a wild boar while running with my teammates in cross country. That day was incredibly dark, with absolutely no ray of sunlight shining through, we were all scared for our lives, the lightning and thunder were deafening, the mud that soaked up our socks were of no help either. However, when we finally made it out safe and sound, I somehow felt more excited and bursting with energy to do it again.

Just taking in the scenery and feeling calm and collected. It helps me gather my thoughts and keeps me from overloading myself. Just going for a small trip to east coast park to cycle and taking in the scenery helps to rejuvenates me whole. Embracing the tranquility of the birds chirping in the mornings, going for a run in the evenings and admiring the koi fishes in ponds. These are the things that keep me alive.

I just love indulging in nature, despite the scorching hot weather, or the cooling gentle drizzle. It works like magic and takes all the stress away after an exhausting day. In the long run, spending a little more time outdoors can be a detrimental factor to keep my body healthy and fit, on the surface as well as on the inside.

In my honest opinion, I have mixed feelings about this question. Yes, I agree that conserving our natural environment vitally falls on the governments shoulders, but we as citizens also have a large part to play.

The government ensures that reservoirs have an abundant amount of water for us to use, but at the same time, we also have to take care of our local parks and reservoirs.

One responsibility we have, is to keep nature parks and reservoirs clean, to not just throw rubbish on the floor, and to respect the animals living in these environments. We can volunteer to clean up beaches and do our part to reduce, reuse and recycle. Although one act may be small, if we collectively do our part, it can definitely change our environment for the better. Have you ever thought that these natural environments are the homes of many animals? So shouldn't we treat them with the same respect that they give us as well?

Have you ever thought of how great of an impact one act can do to curb the spread of destroying our natural environments? We as individuals can try choosing to use more bio-degradable items, we should cut down on our usage of plastic items such as plastic cups, cutlery and bags. Such items can be found in our houses, which we just recklessly throw away without any thought given. Many inconsiderate people tend to throw such waste items into the sea which has negative impact on our environment.

Nevertheless, with global warming being a huge factor affecting countries all over the world, the government may need to step in. One example would be the growing problem of emission of fossil fuels and harmful gases from factories, which has a negative impact on countries widespread. Countries may need to collaborate together in solving this problem by dealing with its root cause.

However, the first step starts with us, there are numerous platforms for Singaporeans to contribute the betterment of nature. All we need to do is to take the first step, to respond and lend our helping hand. So, the responsibility is in our hands.

Personally, I do agree that efforts to conserve the natural environments around us largely land on the pillars of the government and its personnel, but at the same time, I am a strong believer that as the people who inhabit these natural environments, we play an incredibly essential role in ensuring that our environment remains healthy and is able to thrive.

Yes, it is true that on a larger scale, the government seems to be the party that can do the most to protect and conserve our world and its beautiful ecosystems - by implementing laws to prevent the disruption of life in nature, or by organising regular litter pick-ups around our island to reduce both land and marine pollution. However, we are definitely not exempted because after all, we also make use of nature's resources and beauty to develop mankind's advancements in various aspects, like sourcing for natural herbs to serve as medication, or even advancing our scientific research about the history of mankind through thorough investigations in forests and many more.

Easily, there are quite a number of ways that citizens can conserve our world's environment, and it's not difficult to conduct at all. Some examples include spreading awareness in the community about the importance of reducing our carbon footprint through encouraging others to use public transport instead of purchasing and driving their own cars, or can be as effortless as picking up litter if we spot any. In a nutshell, conserving the natural environment counts as both the government's, as well as the people's responsibility.

By working together, we would definitely be able to more effectively and efficiently protect Mother Nature, maintaining the beautiful ecosystem that the world has built up.

Although I spend most of my time cooped up at home in my cozy and snug bed, I do make time for activities outdoors. I definitely would love to spend time outdoors in nature. I find that doing things in nature is refreshing and healing for my soul. Just taking in the fresh smell of the atmosphere, the sound of the water splashing against the rocks and the sea of green before my eyes. After a week of hard work, revising and completing homework, it feels rejuvenating to just be one with nature, not caring about life's problems.

It is even more worthwhile if I'm with my family while doing so. It could be a bike ride at east coast park, or a hike at Bukit Timah hill, whatever the activity, it is lovely to spend my time outdoors in nature, with the ones I love most. Every Sunday after church service, my family would always go to Bishan Park for a short 30 minutes walk. On other occasions, we bring our dog as there is a dog park located inside. I also get greeted by different breeds of dogs as soon as I open the gate, many of them pouncing around my leg, excited to see another friend of theirs to play with. During the November and December holidays last year, my family sought to make outdoor activities part of our daily schedule. Because there was a Changi Jurassic Mile bike ride going on, we rented bikes and cycled from Changi, all the way to East Coast Park. Along the way, there was a one kilometre stretch of path that was filled with life-sized dinosaur models of more than 20 different creatures. The time spent there was meaningful as not only am I surrounded with Mother Nature, I also get to spend time with my family, bonding and enjoying each other’s company.

Secondly, why I would want to spend my time in nature is the calming environment. Just lying down on a sea of grass, gazing up into the sky, watching swirls of orange and yellow, mixed with a tinge of pink and purple wash over the impeded blue sky as fluffy clouds float pass my eyes. Just letting nature embrace me with its beauty is wonderful enough! Understandably, I know why many Singaporeans have a distaste for nature. Singapore has such a hot and humid environment, so a walk in a park, under the stuffy and clammy conditions, would not be relaxing. However, I beg to differ. I’m alright with the heat and sometimes there will be a gentle breeze that will welcome me while I stroll. There are certain periods when Singapore’s temperature drops and that’s when I feel like I am in another country. Certain parts of the country’s nature transports me to a different country, like Japan or Taiwan. It is best accompanied by soft music playing in my headphones and embrace the surroundings.

As much as I am tempted to indulge myself in the day at home, watching my Netflix shows, I would still make the effort to enjoy my outdoor activities with Mother Nature.

From my perspective, as much as I agree that the government plays a large role in conserving the natural environment. I also believe that we, as responsible citizens, should also play a large role in helping to preserve nature. In Singapore, we are already doing small improvements to help out, for example we do beach cleanups, picking up litter around the beach so that it doesn't get washed into the ocean, harming the marine life. Of course, to a certain extent then do we need the government's intervention to take action, for example the government can pass laws to ensure that natural environments around the country is protected, only such major actions would we need the government. The government already made an infrastructure that purifies the water so that we can drink. However, inconsiderate people throw substances inside the water that makes it unhygienic and may even be fatal to marine life living in them. All of us should play a part and work together so that everyone can enjoy the natural environment properly.

For me, everyone has a part to play in conserving nature. But as the entity with the most authority, the government plays a very significant role in environmental protection. There are many ways to do it, such as passing laws protecting natural deposits and areas. But the protection of nature cannot be the sole act of the government. We all must treat nature with the same respect as we expect our government to do.

For example, we should honor national park laws and abstain from littering or plucking out flowers. Doing so keeps the parks clean and preserve the flora there. Small things like having a water bottle rather than constantly buying bottled water then discarding it might seem small if only one of us does it, but if done on a major scale worldwide, humanity could reduce landfill growth majorly. This means that civilian efforts of conserving nature is only effective when done collectively.

On the government's part, they can pass strict environmental protection laws and fine those who break them heavily. In this way, they discourage those putting their own gain over the planet's interest and everyone else from doing things that harm the natural environment. They can also educate the younger generation about the importance of protecting nature in school to increase their consciousness about nature's protection.

Overall, I believe that environmental protection is not the job of a professionally trained group of people, but the job of all those who call Earth home, regardless of whether they're in the government, or just mere blue-collar civilians.

I can say I almost agree with it. Nature area such as reservoir parks, nature reserve or wildlife needs to be conserve, but we citizens does not have the ability to do that. In fact we need to the help of the government, for example, Plantation. Plantation can help improve our nature reserve as more trees can help make our environment clean and keep our air fresh and clean. It is up to the government for this massive job, some of us may not even have experience in planting trees. The government can also interact with other countries on what way can they help conserve nature. I believe different countries have their different ideas, the Singapore government can choose to follow either of their ideas which sounds possible. We citizens cannot even do that, so conserving nature this important job suits the government best.

Although it make seem like that is nothing we can do. But as a Singaporean, there is little efforts we can make to help clean our environment. One example would be to pick up litters in trails of reservoir. My CCA once have a camp last year when on the last day we went to Macritchie reservoir to pick up rubbish. Macritchie reservoir is a place that we also go for our long trainings so it would be our job to help clean our place for running. By doing so, we not only help to clean the rubbish, but also make the environment most soothing for other Singaporean too. By the end of the day, I didn't know the amount of rubbish we Singaporeans left in the trail. Picking up litters that we find in nature can help keep our environment clean and make Singapore achieve its goal of "Going Green".

Well, I would say some do and some don’t, but I will talk about those who don’t. Although like most teenagers, I tend to spend more time couped up in my room on my mobile devices. However, I do enjoy the moments when I spend my free time in nature. The fresh air that takes away from the polluted city atmosphere as well as the many flora and fauna that I get to see in nature.

Aaliyah, a friend of mine, would greatly disagree with me. She is completely and utterly bored over her head by nature. Once, during our june holiday break, I had at long last managed to cajole her into joining me for a hike in MacRitchie Reservoir. At the start of our hike, she had briskly understood that there was no internet access in nature. Over the course of our hike, she had grumbled about how we were surrounded by the same boring trees and how we had been walking on the same uneven path for what felt like ages. She regularly checked the connection on her phone in desperation to once again reconnect with technological civilisation. Unfortunately, she had been missing the hidden beauty of nature. She had not seen the multicoloured butterflies that accompanied us along the hike or the many tiny flowers that seemed to line the path. In her desperation to reconnect with the technological world, she had disconnected from the real world that is around her. Alas, she only sees nature as nothing special but trees and dirt which does not interest or excite her in the slightest. Because of this, we have very different views on spending time in nature.

I have yet another friend who is just like the first. She holds a small yet immense fear of insects. She had told me of the story of her first encounter with a bee one night, when was only 10 years old. She was having a peaceful sleep when a bee got into her room and unknowingly, she must have provoked the it, causing it to feel threatened and sting her knee. She was woken up by immense pain and had to be rushed to a 24/7 family clinic nearby in the middle of the night. Ever since then, she has harboured great fear for bees which had grown to a fear of many other insects. Simply because she has this great fear for insects, she would not come close to even a forested area or park where nature grows. She finds the idea of spending time in nature horrifying. Because of this, we have very different ideas about spending time in nature, she would avoid it at all costs.

My friends definitely do not share the same sentiments that I do about nature. Because, unfortunately, with technology and our developing countries, young blood are losing the enjoyment of spending time with nature. Younger generations no longer find contentment in nature but rather in their mobile devices on social media platforms or varies popular games.

I do agree to a certain extent, considering the fact that the government has the most authority and resources. They would be able to do the most regarding environmental matters and conservation. For example, they can set up statutory bodies to enforce any conservation legislation or to maintain the National Parks. They also have a wider platform and a louder voice, enabling them to reach out to the general public regarding such environmental matters. Even the idea of the National Parks is solely the governments' decision, and it is up to them whether to have such areas set aside for conservation when it could be used for other developments.

However, this doesn't mean that we do not have a part to play in conserving our natural environment. The Earth isn't just home to our governments, but to us little folks as well. Sometimes, we as citizens forget that the preservation of the Earth is the duty of mankind, not its governments. We cannot rely on Government to do everything, because they can only do so much. They can implement laws and regulations, but if we do not play our part by abiding by them, then we cannot blame the government for doing nothing. The responsibility of being stewards to our environment is ours to bear, and even the smallest of gestures can transform our world into one where do not have to worry about the quality of our air or the purity of our water.

At the individual level, we can start with the small things such as tossing our trash into designated rubbish bins, using sustainable packaging, taking public transports or driving electric vehicles, just to name a few. Bringing our own reusable bags may not save the world, but it's a big step on a long path to sustainability.

The conservation of natural environment is largely the government’s responsibility. What are your views.

To a certain extent, I agree. Government plays an important role in conservating natural environment. For instance, conservation of the fragile environment can be made possible with the helps of the laws and policies. With a higher authority, the government is able to limit the number of people accessing certain restricted sites to minimise degradation of the environment. Withholding permission to proceed with tourism related projects that could also minimise the harmful impact pose to the environment.

I disagree with the statement. Besides government, there are also several groups of people that can help to protect the environment. Local people, is able to contribute through funding to conserve and preserve the environment. As the saying goes by, it takes two hands to clap. Protecting mother nature is everyone’s responsibility. So, everyone should play a part in conservating natural environment. Contribution to the society can be made by not littering, polluting the natural environment, degrading natural environment by damaging, vandalizing the areas. As an individual effort, we can also set up recycling corner in our house so our family member can put plastic or paper in there. Instead of using plastic straws, we can use metal straws, bring our own cutlery and containers when ordering food outside.

On large scale, long term, local people still plays an important role in conserving the environment. The conservation of natural environment is not largely the government responsibility. No matter how much rules and regulations enforced, some people might still break the rules and damage the environment. If the whole nation stays united as one and corporate with the government, it is possible to conserve the natural environment.

It is true that the conservation of natural environments is largely the government's responsibility as it is a public property. The government does most of the job keeping the natural environment clean and fresh for people to go and enjoy. There may be some things that only the government has the authority to control to conserve the environment. For instance, deforestation and the emission of greenhouse gases. Only the government has the rights to control and tell the workers to minimize the trees being cut down and also the reduction of releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere by burning lesser items in factories.
But at the same time, I feel that it is also our job, as individuals to play a part and keep them clean too. As much as it is a government property and public area, we have every rights to do our part to keep these natural environments clean too. We are not the only ones using it.
Natual environments are shared among all of us humans and animals. We as individuals have to play a part to keep it clean for the animals living in these natural environments as well as keeping the place fresh for everyone to enjoy in. If one of us would be inconsiderate, it might harm the animals living there and it would also attract lesser people to want to go there and enjoy the natural beauty.
Therefore, it may largely be the government's duty to maintain the natural environments, but we have to play our parts and contribute to keeping them clean too as we are all sharing the place.

I do not agree with that viewpoint. Though the government has the most power to organize conservation events, people need to be there to support the government at such events.

I have read about events during my geography lessons like the Plant-A-Tree program, which has Singapore plant a million trees for each $300 donated. Or the FamilyTrees program, where families plant a tree whenever there is a birth. These events are organized by the government, but they require the support of the people of Singapore in order to reach their full potential. If Singaporeans expect the government to be able to get rid of plastic pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and deforestation, then they are wrong.

Individually, we think that a little plastic pollution is no problem, however when this rubbish adds up it creates a real problem. The rubbish in the Pacific Ocean has all converged into a giant compilation of plastic and waste as big as Texas. This is a sign that every single effort and waste counts despite how small it seems

Throughout the world, conservation of nature is a worldwide effort to curb its destruction. Governments only serve as a set-up, but the population acts as the catalyst. When people become more aware of the destruction of nature, they will do more to save it, setting up their own events, and eventually the population can do just as much as the government.

For me, I do agree that most of the responsibility is on the government. However, I also believe that the conservation of the natural environment should also be partially on everyone who uses the area.

Yes, as the government has more authority to do changes to the environment such as building of laws, removing of disruption to the nature environment, the government has most of the responsibility to conserve the nature environment.

However as an individual, we have the responsibility to take care of what we leave behind instead of expecting cleaners to be around, helping us clean up. It may be a small act to pick up the litter on the floor but it can cause a big impact. Natural environments can be homes of hundreds of animals that we simply don't know. Even simple acts like littering can cause huge pest infections, disrupting not only the animals around but even others who use the same area. Adding on, if litters are seen everywhere at nature parks for example, others may feel disgusted to come over again. Eventually, more people will not appreciate the natural environment.

As an individual, the simplest job to help conserve the natural environment is to encourage others to protect the natural environment together. We can always go for voluntary work that are related to the conservation of nature. We shouldn't be hoping for any returns when doing these voluntary works as we also play a big part to the damage of nature environment. A good example is the Plant-A-Tree programme in Singapore where people can volunteer with the planting of trees or even buying a tree to plant. Small actions can always cause big impacts. Instead of doing it alone, we can share these voluntary works with our friends and encourage them to join. With more manpower, I believe the conservation of nature would be easier.

Therefore, we as an individual should play our part in protecting and conserving the natural environments, not expecting the government to do everything. We should also give our best back to nature, thanking what they're given us.

Conservation of natural environments is not solely the responsibility of the government, but it is a shared responsibility of individuals, businesses, communities, and governments at all levels. Governments can play a crucial role in implementing policies and regulations that protect natural resources and ecosystems, but individuals and organizations also have a part to play in promoting sustainable practices and reducing their environmental impact.

Government policies and regulations can help establish protected areas, promote sustainable land use practices, limit pollution and carbon emissions, and support the transition to renewable energy sources. For example, in Singapore, the government has set aside land to be used solely for the conservation of nature, with Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and the National Parks being prime examples. The government also imposes road taxes such as the ERP and high COE costs to deter people from purchasing their own private cars, instead encouraging people to take public transportation instead which would reduce carbon emissions. Besides encouraging citizens to reduce emissions, the government has also been investing and developing sustainable technologies to be implemented around Singapore, such as solar panels and electric buses. However, governments also need to balance economic development and environmental protection, which can sometimes be challenging.

Individuals and organisations can take steps to reduce their environmental impact too, such as reducing energy consumption, using public transportation or electric vehicles, reducing waste, and supporting environmentally-friendly products and services such as reusable straws and cutlery, as well as paper bags or reusable bags over plastic ones. By making sustainable choices and advocating for environmental protection, individuals and organisations can help drive positive change.

To conclude, the conservation of natural environments is a shared responsibility, and while governments can play an important role, everyone has a part to play in promoting sustainability and protecting our planet.

Well, I would say some do and some don't. However, I prefer spending time outdoors in nature and one of my friends agree to its extent too. Being exposed to nature brings a lot of benefits such as learning more about wildlife. It is interesting to know how different species populate and survive in the wild while predators hunt them for food and how the prey overcome those challenges. Comparing them to us, living under a roof and born with a silver spoon, we are more fortunate than others who live in the wildlife and its worth spending some time outdoors to step out of our comfort zone to explore and learn from their mistakes, analysing and correcting ours if so.

Ben Dover, a friend of mine, also shares a view with my statement. He is a fan of nature and mostly spends his weekends early in the morning, taking a stroll in the park just below his apartment just for an hour or so. He would pen down his observations of what he sees; stray cats wondering aimlessly in search of food from humans, sparrows and crows chirping loudly, awaking the people around the neighbourhood. This is what he calls 'well time spent'. Ben's routinely walk in nature not only enhances his knowledge about different species of organisms, but also helps burn his calories for the walk is about a kilometre or even more averagely. Hence, investing our time exploring and understanding nature benefits us both physically and mentally.

I see the conservation of natural environment as a job that is allegedly an even split between both the public and government. Thus, I only agree to a certain extent.

For example, if a decision on whether a specific forested area has been proposed to be extricated and rebuilt for another purpose, the government officials should consider whether the removal of trees would still benefit us.
Another initiative the government could do is encourage the public to follow the 3Rs: Reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling bins could be placed on the grounds of neighbourhood flats, and machines dispensing 10cent coins could be used in turn for every 5 plastic bottles. These actions can be a motivation for Singaporeans to willingly recycle since they receive a small token for their efforts: reducing Singapore's plastic pollution.
The government might see the removal of our greens for future homes as more efficient as currently in Singapore, I know that plants are grown in homes and office buildings too. Therefore, a meeting between the two groups has to happen to see if these plans can be materialised in the future.

For us, an example is growing our own plants at home. This would still help reduce the carbon emissions which vehicles and industries produce. If we want to go creative, a small terrarium could be made, and this is just as effective as watering plants. Another example is to donate our leftover food to a company which breeds soldier flies through edible food, Insectta. These flies can eat our wasted food, and their waste materials can be used as fertilizers for plants too. This ensures that the plants would grow effectively and there would be a form of greenery in our houses.

Thus, the government and citizens still play a part in conserving the natural environment, but we just have to ensure that all the ideas have their practicality and usefulness in society.

The conservation of natural environment is largely the government responsibilty. I do agree that as well but there is a limit to how much the government can do to preserve them. They implement rules and fines or get people to clean and preserve with their resources and funds. They can implement more laws and harsh punishment or increase car and gas prices so lesser people would want to own a vehicle reducing the carbon emmison.
However, we individuals also have a part to play. We must always remember to make a effort to care for the environment and follow the rules and regulations set by the government. If everyone do their part the world would become a cleaner place by not littering, be more mindful of plastic use and clear any trash they see. We can also try to cut down on uses of plastic by using own containers and straws or take public transport to lessen carbon emmision.
So conserving the environment is not only the Government job but ours. We are all sharing the world so each of us have our own part to play.

It is because the government is in charge of the development of our country. Although the government plays a big part, this does not mean that we should abuse this fact and do whatever we feel like to the natural environment. We all play a part to protect the environment.

For example, individuals and businesses also have a responsibility to protect natural environments by reducing the natural resources they use, adopting sustainable practices, and supporting conservation efforts.

Even if the government is largely responsible, everyone has a role to play in protecting our planet's natural resources for future generations.

Yes, I believe that it is largely the government's responsibility but we have a part to play. A law given out with hefty fines and most citizens would abide to it. In addition, increasing petrol prices, registration fees and certificate of entitlement fee would discourage driving. With lesser cars on the road, the carbon admission will decrease.

The government can also hire more workers to help clean up any rubbish. Not only does it benefit the environment but also offers more job opportunities. However, the government can only do so much. We have to play our part and be responsible to help keep the environment clean. Do we want to be in a unkept environment with rubbish everywhere and the air pungent or have clean streets with fresh breeze.

This year, to celebrate earth day, residents in the Seng Kang area was given the opportunity to sign up to pick up trash in the neighbourhood and parks. A range of people as young as primary schoolers to elderly members all came down to help out. Overall, they managed to clear multiple bags of trash. So, even though it is largely the government's responsibility, each of us can lend a helping hand when opportunities are given. We can even suggest clean up events once in awhile.

To me ,nature is hell, endless swarms of invisible insects, infinite crackling of crickets, and the ever present scorching rays of sunlight. Rain just makes it worse, the ground becomes wet and slippery, the floors are covered with deep puddles of water that may wet your shoes. Although I hate being outside, my mother forces me to run every Sunday morning, when the blinding sun is just rising and when every insect wakes up. Coupled with my endless sweating , mosquitos and other sorts of flies swarm around me as I run . I would prefer spend my time inside, enjoy the comforts the modern developments has to offer rather than spend my time literally dying outside.
Would you rather chill or sleep in an air conditioned room or walk under the blazing sun through hordes of pestering insects? Would you rather have a comfortable lunch at a organized table or would you rather try, try to have a picnic outside when mother nature is eating your "cute little picnic" as you try to bear the unbearable heat.
You can go to the beach to 'enjoy' the sea and the beach till the sea breeze shoves sand in your eyes and the dear sun burns you red. It's not that I'm a lazy bum that lazes at home all day, it's not that I dislike exercising, I just hate, HATE, the outside. Although you may have some 'blissful' moments , just know that mother nature is just saving her grace to come and ruin your day when unexpected.

Well, I agree with this statement. The conservation of natural environments is a wide scale project which can only be managed by the government. Firstly, they can raise petrol prices and vehicle prices. By doing so, citizens won’t frequently change or buy vehicles as purchasing it will be pricy. Since it becomes more expensive, there will be fewer people buying. Thus, there will be lesser carbon emission due to the decrease in vehicles. The government can also enforce laws and implement heavier penalties. People would follow the laws to prevent being punished as the penalties become more threatening. Many stores are also going plastic free. If we require a plastic bag to carry our purchases, we would need to pay 10 cents or 20 cents for it. This is one way on how the government encourages us to go plastic free.

Another example, is a large project that is currently ongoing, is the ‘OneMillionTrees movement’. It aims to restore nature back into our city through the planting of a million more trees across Singapore over the next 10 years. However to accomplish this project, a large amount of manpower would be needed. That manpower would be filled by citizens who are willing to help out in this project and give back to society. It has been said by TreesSG that community is key to the success of this movement. Furthermore, everyone can contribute by following the three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle. If more people are willing to follow these three Rs, we might be able to conserve the natural environments as there will be lesser waste. A simple act like throwing our trash into the bin instead of littering can help in the long-term. Like how bad deeds can accumulate, good deeds can also accumulate and eventually our hard work will bear fruit.

Therefore, the conservation of natural environments is largely the government’s responsibility. However, no matter how big or small the contribution is, I think that everyone can play their part in conserving our natural environments. Even if the government has the authority, we shouldn’t rely on the government as they can only do so much. After all a government exists because there are citizens to govern over. In conclusion, it is people’s effort that transforms Singapore into a City in Nature.

Well, for me, I've always been someone who enjoys nature, so I would say yes. I spend most of my time in the comforts of my own room, often to play games or just resting. However, I find spending time outdoors at least once a week, even if it's just for a while, very soothing too.

On most sundays, I like to spend my late afternoons at Bishan park, with a loaf of bread. Ever since I moved here, feeding the fishes has been a pastime I thoroughly enjoy. Oftentimes, there will be tortoises there too, which sometimes crawl up the rocks to be fed. It's a great way for me to destress as it is something i enjoy doing, while having the benefit of being outdoors too, instead of always staying at home.

However, there are times when I also hate going outdoors. The main reason is always due to weather conditions. At hiking areas like MacRitchie trail and Rifle range nature park, it is always hot due to high temperatures there. Any sweat shed there also does not evaporate due to the high humidity. My mother is one of those nature loving enthusiasts who often enjoys waking us up on a sunday morning to go for hikes, which just does not make sense to me and always ruins the rest of my sunday. I'm sure I'm not the only one who hates it when they're body is wet and sticky. Thus, while I do sometimes enjoy spending time outdoors in nature, most of the time I would rather just lie in bed reading or chatting with friends, rather than sweating buckets under horrifying weather conditions.

Well, I would say that most of them do, and prefer staying at home. However, I do know some who loves nature with a passion. Teenagers nowadays, myself included, prefer to spend their time gaming or interacting online, since it allows them to sort of disconnect from the real world for a while. Thus it should not come as a surprise that most prefer staying at home rather than spending time in nature. It's also a easier way to make friends, since you can communicate over text, rather than talking face to face, which can be difficult for some people. Besides, sometimes places like hiking trails and nature reserves have no signal, which is a huge annoyance when outdoors.

However, as I said, some of my friends find spending time in nature too. A good amount of extroverts love nothing more than to head outside, whether for a jog to clear their head, or just to sight see and rest their eyes. Nowadays life in urban cities are different from just a few hundred years ago. Everything is more modern, air is not as fresh, and wildlife is almost nonexistent, unless you count the birds. Spending time in nature can help rest our minds and also reminds us of how everything was in the past.

he importance of preserving our natural environment is not something that should be taken lightly. Our natural environment provides us with a variety of critical resources and services that are vital to our health and well-being. Therefore, it is important that we do everything we can to protect and preserve this vital resource for future generations.

I think it is our responsibility as we have a choice to choosing the easy way out which is harmful to the environment or the hard way which is eco friendly. For example , when we shop we can get a plastic bag from them or we could bring our own bags. Most of us would not remember to bring our own bags so we would buy the plastic bag.after we have brought home the groceries we throw away the plastic bag and not reuse it. This causes more plastic bags to be made ,since plastic does not decompose easily it is harmful to the environment.

On the other hand this could also be the governtment’s responsibility as the government could ban the usage of plastic bags and start using other cloth like materials to make bags . this movement has already started in many countries even the developing counties have banned the use of plastic bags we are one of the last countries that still use plastic bags.

Another example is the sales of plastic use and throw spoons and forks.many use plastic ones as they are cheaper.while using wooden utensils are a better option when compared to plastic .wodden ones are not the best choice as they would have to cut down trees to make it. But in recent years some people have come up with edible utensils which are made from food. These are the most eco friendly option as they dont harm the environment while producing these and not only that these utensils have dietary fibre which is necessary for human body. But the only problem with this is that they are way more expensive when compared to plastic utensils or even wooden ustensels.it is our choice weather we want plastic or edible utensils .thus it is our responsibiliy to use more eco friendly utensils and reduce the use of plastic as much as possible

He runs regularly every morning, even on weekdays. He loves being covered in sweat while running past bustling and active wildlife like insects and squirrels. Being the health freak, he relentlessly urges us to come out and exercise with him, but to no avail.

Thenceforth, I also have another friend who agrees with my opinion, stay at home, its comfortable and you can laze all day at home. He would stay at home all day, away from the grasps of mother nature, but exercise outside and cycle the day after. He has a regular routine of going outside once every two days.

I agree that the conservation of our natural environment is largely the responsibility of the government, but as citizens, we play a part as well.

I agree that the government is largely responsible since they hold the authority to enforce laws and regulations to ensure that our natural environments are being protected. For example, increasing the certificate of entitlement, or COE, that must be acquired in order to purchase a vehicle, of which the government has also increased. By doing this, cars are becoming more expensive which means that the number of people who wish as well as are able to purchase these vehicles will decrease. This results in fewer vehicles on the road which then reduces carbon emissions which harm our natural environment. Another example of what the government can do to conserve our natural environment is to organise events such as the cleaning of our beaches. During school camps, the government can encourage the school to add in the activity of cleaning our beaches. While helping to protect our natural environment, students will also be able to learn about our natural environment and gain a passion to continue helping to protect it. Therefore, I believe that the conservation of our natural environment is largely the responsibility of the government.

However, I also believe that citizens should also contribute to the conservation of our natural environments. One way that we can contribute is to practise the three R’s: reuse, reduce, recycle. Firstly, we should reuse items that are not damaged and are able to serve a purpose. For example, I used cardboard sheets that were the packaging of my parents’ online purchases, to make a recycling bin where we can dispose of plastic, paper and glass. Secondly, we could reduce the use of items that harm our natural environment, such as plastic. Plastic is a material that decomposes very slowly, and thus takes up space in landfills and hurts sea creatures that come across it when plastic is dumped into oceans. Therefore, we should reduce our use of plastic, which is so commonly used, so we can conserve our natural environments. We can do this by turning to other available options such as paper bags or cloth bags to store our purchases. Finally, we should recycle so as to reduce the amount of items that are disposed of and take up space in our landfills, of which can be used for another purpose. Like I previously mentioned about a recycling bin I made, I believe that we all should have a recycling bin at home so we can conveniently dispose of items that can be recycled. To practise these three R’s takes only minimal effort to do, hence I believe that we are able and should contribute to the conservation of our natural environments.

To conclude, though I believe that the conservation of our natural environments is largely the government’s responsibility, I also believe that we should contribute. With this conjoined effort to protect our natural environments, I hope that we will be able to erase the mistakes that people had done that harmed our beautiful natural environments.

I don't agree that conservation of natural environment is largely the government's responsibility. I believe it starts with us. We can't just push everything over to the government. We can do the simple things like reduce, reuse and recycle, even the smallest things can make a big impact.
We can learn to have a sustainable lifestyle by bringing our own bags instead of using the plastic bags given to us by shops. The most basic thing to do to conserve the environment would be to not litter. It doesn't take much to help conserve nature. If each person plays their part it will not be so difficult.

However, we would also need the government's help in certain aspects as not all can be done by an average human with no authority. The government can organise events to help clean up nature and create rules and fines to make nature a cleaner place and to conserve it better.

I believe that the conservation of natural environments is mainly our responsibility. Small things like not littering or stepping on flowers is our responsibility. We are responsible for natural environments as we are the ones using them, that would put us at fault if we don't properly care for the trees and plants. One may think that it would be ok to litter or ruin the environment, but if everyone thought the same way it would cause the place to less like a natural environment and more like a landfill.

Bigger things that are out of our reach like pollution of rivers or factories causing the air to be polluted would be the government's responsibility. The first step to conserving a natural environment starts with us which use them. Afterwards, bigger issues that are out of our reach would be up to the government to solve. But what we can do is to report any issues to the government so that they know of the issue earlier and fix it.

I agree that the government is largely responsible for the conservation of the natural environment. However, there are many things that us individuals can do to help the government in their efforts.

One way that we can help to conserve our natural environment alongside the government is by choosing to recycle materials. When we go grocery shopping, we would receive plastic bags to help us carry our groceries home. Instead of discarding these plastic bags without a second glance, we can fold them up and reuse them again in the near future. This way, instead of wasting these materials that will only accumulate and contribute to the problem, we can help to solve these issues in our environment.

Another way that we can help is to cut down on our greenhouse gas admissions. Our use of electricity and our choice of transportation greatly varies the amount of greenhouse gas admissions going into our atmosphere and environment. When we use electricity for things such as air-conditioning instead of fans, we increase the amount of greenhouse gases entering our atmosphere as more electricity is produced to power our air-conditioners. Moreover, the more vehicles that are on our roads, the more fuel is needed to get our vehicles up and running. With developments in our transportation, it is much easier to get around with personal vehicles such as cars. This allows privacy, comfort and convenience to people. However, with the increasing number of cars people buy, there is greater need for fuel which requires the burning of fossil fuels. This will only add to our greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, a way that we can help is to choose ways that cut down the amount of greenhouse gases produced. For instance, using a fan instead of air conditioning and setting the temperature to be at twenty five degrees celsius. We can also choose to take public transportation such as buses or trains. This will cut down on the amount of cars that require fuel, which will decrease the amount of fossil fuels that are burnt.

The government does have greater authority and responsibility to help take care of our environment. Nevertheless, we are all living on the same earth and therefore we should choose to help take care of it instead of pushing the responsibility only to the government. Although each action may be small due to our limited ability as citizens, if everyone does a little to help conserve our environment, it can and will accumulate to have a greater impact than we thought. As I always believed, the smallest action can have the greatest impact.

I agree that the conservation of natural environments is largely the governments responsibility as they have more authority and thus have a larger say in things. However, I also think that us individuals also have a part to play in the conservation of natural environments. Some ways that individuals can help in the conservation of natural environments is to save on plastic waste and to drive less.
In this day and age, using things made with plastic like utensils is a very common thing as it is less troublesome since we can just throw it away after using it. Many things in the supermarket are also packaged with plastic which causes it to be great quantities of plastic waste after every grocery trip. The plastic waste actually contributes to global warming our climate changes since when the planet gets hotter, the plastic breaks down into more methane and ethylene which are greenhouse gases thus increasing the rate of climate change, and so perpetuating the cycle. Thus citizens can actually try to reduce their plastic usage by visiting a zero waste store to reuse their containers instead of contributing to more plastic waste.
Another way citizens can help to conserve the natural environment is to take more public transport, walk or cycle instead of driving. Driving releases a lot of harmful gases like carbon dioxide as research has shown that 3 quarters of carbon dioxide emissions comes from driving. And the gas emissions actually increases the atmospheric temperature and causes global warming. So as to prevent this, individuals can choose to take the public transport since it reduces their carbon footprint and harmful gas emissions. Research also shows that carbon dioxide emissions has been reduced by as much as 50 percent by limiting the flow of private cars. Thus, individuals can choose use modes of transport like public transport or cycling to reduce their carbon footprint and conserve the natural environment
In a nutshell, although the government plays a major part in the conservation of natural environment, individuals also can play a part in helping to conserve the natural environment.

The conservation of nature should be the responsibility of the people to support the movements by government. Though governments have more resources and power than an individual, it largely depends on the population to really take part in the events to conserve the environment.
If the government is not doing enough to conserve the environment, the population should stand up and take their own actions. The earth is inhabited by all of us, so all of us should be responsible for it's well-being, certain government do indeed not care for conserving the environment and continue to do intense deforestation along with using fossil fuels. Unfortunately most of these governments are from rich nations as they have the resources to perform all these tasks but do not think twice about considering the environmental impacts. The population of these countries like the people in the United States have voiced their concerns about the climate and needing to do more. Citizens also need to spend time to educate themselves on the changing climate and not fall for false information that may be given by corrupted governments.

People also have just as much a role to play in conservation and we cannot put all our problems onto the hands of the government.

I believe that the conservation of natural environments is the responsibility of the citizens of the country as well.

It is true that the government has more authority than us and can make larger impacts than a action from a single individual. For an example, the government had reduce the use of plastic straws in resturants in Singapore. This has greatly reduced the use of straws by the citizens. Plastic is also being charged in marts to encourage the citizens to use their own recycable carriers.

Though the government has done these things in hope to reduce plastic waste, it all depends on us in the end. Many people would not mind spending a few cents on plastic as they find it troublesome to carry around their own recycable bags. It is the mindset of us that has to change to finally effectivively reduce the use of plastic waste.

We play a major role. Just by throwing our trash in the rubbish bin, it will greatly reduce the amount of litter lying around. Even if there are already litter lying around, we can step up and pick up the trash overselves. There are even nature loving community clubs that volunteer to clean up the community together.

Hence, if we all work together and do these little things in our lifestyle, we can conserve the beauty that the nature has given us and the efforts of the government will not go to waste.

I feel that the conservation of the natural environment is definitely the governments responsibility, but it is equally an individuals responsibility as well

The government is able to make a big impact as citizens are more likely to heed their words. For example, Singapore's landfill will be filled by 2035. The government can stress the urgent need to reduce waste and encourage citizens to reduce their waste. The government can also impose laws and punishments for people doing wrong things like littering to encourage people not to do so. This will help conserve the natural environment and make citizens make a habbit of doing their part to conserve the natural environment.

However, it is also the individuals responsibility to conserve the natural environment. Each individual only has a small part to play. There are many things an individual can do to conserve the natural environment, like composting their organic waste, or reducing the use of plastic by bringing their own utensils, containers, and stainless steel straws that can be reused. Inorganic waste the can be recycled should be too. Opting for public transport instead of cars can also help to have lesser cars on the road, which means lesser greenhouse gas emissions.

Thus, I believe that no one has a larger or smaller responsibility when it comes to conserving the natural environment. Instead, it's everyones responsibility to do their part to ensure our environment is preserved.

Although the government plays a role in conserving our natural environments, it doesn't mean that we cannot play our part. The government is preoccupied with other tasks such as defending or developing the country so to push all the responsibility to them and carry on with our carefree life is simply unreasonable.

Thankfully there are people out there willing to pour large amounts of time to better the environment. Take non-profit organisations and charities for example, volunteering their time picking litter on beaches or planting trees during the weekends sacrificing their spare time to help better the environment. We can also play a part without volunteering any time by picking up litter and clearing it would already be a contributing factor to helping the environment. I for one had taken part in a group charity where I picked up little at MacRitchie reservoir and it was a fulfilling experience as I got to meet new people and I get a closeup look at nature while also helping to clean up.

Hence I think that we all play and have our own responsibilities when conserving the natural environment

In fact, I would choose to spend more time indoors than outdoors. It is more comfy, which is one of the reasons. I could simply lay down in my cozy bed and enjoy the soothing effects of the cool breeze that the air-conditioner provided. In reality, rather than spending time outdoors, I could spend time focusing on subjects that I am weak in and improving them because the O'level exams are just around the horizon.

Second, I don't enjoy the sun's glaring beams hitting me. I am unable to open my eyes when my friends and family snap pictures of me because they are crammed into two little lines. I don't really sweat, but the hot, muggy weather makes me drenched in perspiration and sticky. I find it to be unsettling. If I remain in the scorching sun for a long enough period of time, my skin might even turn a darker shade. So I decided to stay put in my home。

Last but not least, being outside increases the probability of coming into contact with many insects. Whether they are able to fly, leap or crawl, I won't ever tolerate them. Specifically, those bothersome, bugs and critters like flies, ants and mosquitoes, especially mosquitoes.Their annoying buzzing sound next to my ear, giving me goosebumps, swarming about me and sucking on my delicious blood. When they were full, they flew off, leaving a red spot on my skin. The itching that I experience all over my body, they can't get away. Hence, I will be glad to stay away from them and stay at home.

although the outdoors can be a beautiful and fulfilling place, I find that im more comfortable and inclined to spending my time indoors and there are many reasons as to why Id rather spend my time indoors rather than others.

For one, ive been training outdoors for CCA for the past 4 years and I still prefer being indoors that out. Being outdoors has its benefits but I still rather spend my time indoors playing games or studying. I find being indoors a more claming and comfortable environment whereas the outdoors is warm and uncomfortable. Singapore has warm weather where the sun could be blazing hot causing me to sweat and having to drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Another factor is the pests outside. Mosquitoes and flies can ruin a whole relaxing day or trip. These mosquitoes can cause annoying itchy bumps that can last for days while flies are just annoying as they buzz around you distracting you and making it difficult to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. This is why i’d rather stay at home than go out.

Being indoors is cooling and comforting as there is a wide variety of entertainment services such as the television or being able to surf the internet so that is why id rather spend my time indoors than outdoors as it is free of creepy crawlies and a place to relax.
