In this Fantasy world, these bird sounds act as emergency sirens made by faeries to alarm the villagers to stay home and disguise the alarm as bird sounds to prevent the monster from escaping. 

These bird sounds are something we always hear everyday, but we don't really listen to. This really made me appreciate my natural surroundings and really listen to the unique bird sounds that different birds make. Similarly, it reminded me of the 'Walla is Life' video. Both videos included bird sounds that were very prominent. For me the 'Walla is Life' video was calming at first, but towards the end I felt that the sounds were too much as many sounds were added and the background music became louder. With inspiration, I added background music to create a sense of fear/mystery while I was talking as well as increasing the volume whenever the bird sounds were heard.

It reminded me of crime scene where the area has been closed off to prevent people from tempering with evidence. It made me feel scared making me carefully walk around it to prevent touching and ruining it.

This inspired me to create a fictional world where we were capturing a big giant monster. As the rain started to clear up, two significant water patches were evident which looked like two giant footprints.

While walking to work I always walk pass a primary school where they had these small teepee tents in the corner and to me, it looked like a small village where people lived. This is what inspired my fantasy world experience. I wanted a place where we lived with magical creatures in unison. My  Artefact is a short video of my walk to work. While filming and listening to the video, it reminded of the Dadirri: Inner Deep Listening and Quiet Still Awareness article as I really felt connected with my environment. Walking everyday to work for almost two years, I never once stopped to listen, to think and to observe my surroundings. While reading the article, I've noticed how much the Ngangikurungkurr Tribe deeply connected with the land and the way they appreciated their traditions. 

While filming my artefact, I was reminded of a quote "We could not live good and useful lives unless we listened" (Ungunmerr, 1988). I walked to the same place for the whole week and took a video everyday, until I found the artefact that resonated with me. I listened and listened until I really appreciated my surroundings and felt connected similar to the way these people connected with their land. I gathered sounds to create a Fantasy story to tell others the way they did as 'storytellers' sharing their story for many many years.

Vygotsky shares a similar idea. According to his philosophy, children's cognitive development are influenced and supported by adults. They are role models for the children and help shape the society they live in and the future generations. By sharing their knowledge, children are able to learn and influence others just like the Aboriginal people from the Ngangikurungkurr Tribe.

From these ideas, I wanted to share a video that captured a peaceful walk filled with organic sounds. I felt the most relaxed that day then in the last two years of walking in the same path. Similarly, I believe children need relaxation time to ease and calm their minds as they change routines on a daily basis. Children should be able to move and experience  activities in a more relaxed manner to learn about their bodies, feelings and develop 'mindfulness' and 'self awareness' (Dance Teaching Ideas, 2020).

I wanted my experience to be similar to role play video games where the main character goes on an adventure to capture the villain. My 'On Country Walk' reminded me of my childhood where I used to play games with my friends and even my father. It is a memory that I wanted to incorporate in my experience/game to remind myself and others of our early childhood when we were in our own little world.

I was inspired by the Healesville Sanctuary Aboriginal Soundscape video as I wanted to film a simple walk that captured all the natural sounds. They shouldn't be limited to the materials inside, but rather explore their natural surroundings as well as be encouraged to take risks. At my Centre, most educators often restrict children from going outside or from playing with certain materials due to the weather or it is seen as 'dangerous'.
