I think it is ethical to kill the Devilfish for a couple reasons. My first reason is for food, you need food to live and although you already have many other fish and food on the island she specifically told us that it was the perfect kind of food. Since it is very hard to catch if Karana caught it she would be very proud of herself. So, maybe she also did it for pride. I think what motivated Karana to kill the devilfish was two things.  One was that she needed food to live.  The other reason was by the first time she saw the devilfish she was interested in trying to kill it.

I think it was ethical to kill the devilfish because she wouldn't survive without food.
