However, getting them to interact with each other and respond to one 'post' would be challenging because the majority of the class struggles when they do not have a sentence frame in front of them. I also think about myself in college and remember how much I hated answering DQ's.

I see that they are making an attempt to learn what I am teaching. When I see them practice, it shows that they care about learning, and ultimately that's what I want for them! 
Being online, I can't see their faces, especially when their cameras are off, and they aren't as willing to ask for help if they need it!  When they are engaged and participating, I can see how much of the lesson they are actually retaining. It also helps me to see what I need to re-teach

You can tell if the students are retaining information or comprehending the material. Engaged students are more likely to achieve academically, attend class regularly, and stay in school. You can always tell if your lesson was engaging by looking at the students themselves; how engaged they feel engaged by their teachers and classwork. For example, if the majority of your class is not participating or paying attention, it would show you it’s not that engaging. However, if you see a majority of students participating, collaborating, and eager to learn you know that it is way more effective and engaging. Each group will leave their thoughts under the questions by the assigned date and then follow up by commenting on the other groups’ responses the next day. I would use this after we finish a unit, standard, or lesson! This is an amazing collaboration tactic because you have a variation of learners. Kids can contribute, get that social interaction, and learn to work together! They would learn through discussion with their groups and be able to see other people’s ideas to bounce off of it. Lastly, you can see the classroom dynamics or common factors; do some kids have the same questions. This is perfect for my science projects (or if the kids did group projects about the different aspects of various reading genres)! This allows reflection by not only me, but by their peers.
