Cultivated algae embedded in the garment to glow/react

This is a text research. While it is not directly related to our project, I think it can support the research feasibility of our project.

I came away with three ideas：

• Design to Disappear → Biodegradable wool composites / plantable textiles

• Design for Longevity → Durable, repairable knit structures; multi-purpose forms

• Regenerate Nature → Materials that restore the land they came from (e.g., seeded fibres, local wool mapping)

Grace Ling’s works consist of garments and accessories that function as extensions or ornaments of the body — circular sculptural frames replace traditional hangers, allowing circular jackets to be suspended and even “peeled off” to become wearable pieces.

“I like some aspects to feel more subtle, because I think this collection is about quirky elegance and intelligent femininity,” Grace explains. She expresses this idea through chainmail bags shaped like body forms and backless “hair” dresses that can literally be combed and styled.

The Geometric Ballet (P1–6) presents a new form of ballet performance through the use of materials such as felt, cardboard, and fabric.

It serves as a tribute to Oskar Schlemmer (P7–9 showcase his works).
