As Frozen came out in 2013 it was a huge hit. Many people adored the movie. Little kids just thrived to see it. Elsa had to trust herself because her powers were mighty. She had to become independent to keep her sister safe. It ties in perfectly with “Self-Reliance” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Else had to "trust herself" knowing that it would be the best for Anna’s safety.

Elsa’s powers could kill her sister if she kept around Anna. She decided to run away and build a kingdom, out of ice, to protect herself from accidentally killing her sister. Elsa had to be dependent on her own powers and build a safe haven to protect herself. Her powers would slowly freeze her heart if she kept near Anna in the same castle. Elsa knew she had to be independent and trust herself.

The Lorax, that came out in 2012, is a great example of the importance of nature. It ties in perfectly with “Nature” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The movie gives the audience a great example of how nature is important to our everyday life. The Lorax shows that we need trees to live off of.

The Lorax warned that if they take the Truffalo trees away to factories, it will not turn out good. Slowly the land where the Lorax lived became dirty and polluted. The Lorax respected the nature of the land. The Once-ler did the opposite. He lost respect for the nature of the land.

The Lorax loved the land and appreciated the land. He didn’t want anybody to ruin his trees. They were something he loved and adored dearly. Nature was major importance in his life. Without nature and those trees, The Lorax became depressed. He found the importance of nature. Emerson told that, "he shall be glad in it" and that's what The Lorax did.

In 2003, a major shark attack happened and took one of Bethany Hamilton’s arms. She recovered greatly and was just happy to be alive. One thing bugged her though. Would she ever surf again? Bethany Hamilton’s shark attack ties in perfectly with Emerson’s quote from “Self- Reliance.”

“Accept the place divine providence has found for you…” Finally, after a full recovery, Bethany accepted the new her. She kept her mindset of surfing again. After trying and giving much effort she began surfing again. Bethany accepted the place divine given and did what she loved. Now surfing and winning surfing competitions, she isn’t bugged about ever surfing again.

In great 2001, Johnny Depp bought a village in France. Always a Hollywood actor, he loves living the simplified life. His wife and kids live in a small village and own about 30 acres. Even though he has been in plenty of films, he enjoys doing “absolutely nothing.”

Depp and his family understand the transcendentalist tenet of living a simplified life, rather than extravagant, life. He enjoys living the simple life with his family. One thing he appreciates is being with his family in the small village. He describes it has peaceful and simple. “Let every one mind his business,” goes perfectly with Depp. Life for him is simply going with the flow and doing “absolutely nothing.” And living the simple life makes Johnny and his family content.

In 2012, Miley Cyrus went through a major life breakdown when Liam and her engagement were called off and they split up. Many fans were devasted at what she was doing. She started doing crazy things. For example, cutting her hair, always having her tongue out, strange yet interesting songs, bizarre outfits, and constantly nude~ish.

Miley Cyrus wanted to show that she was an adult who could handle being independent. This time in her life, she became very independent and self-reliant. She wanted to go against the rules and let her heart do what it wanted. Miley felt free and careless. It fit perfectly to "Let him step to the music which he hears…” She did what she wanted. In the end, her and Liam’s heart came back together.
