In PE, we’ve been exploring balls. After spending the first few weeks looking at different types of balls used in a variety of sports, we practised the skills of aiming, throwing and catching. We noticed which techniques give us more power and accuracy when throwing and we ended this week’s lesson with some lively games of dodgeball.

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

In History this week, Year 1 and 2 have been learning all about Samuel Pepys and how important his famous diary is. We wrote some interesting facts about Samuel Pepys and drew a picture of him. 

PE days for Year 1 & Year 2 are on Mondays and Wednesdays 

This week, Year 3 and 4 have been working really hard to showcase their knowledge about the Amazon Rainforest. They have started to write a non-chronological report which will include information about the biodiversity of the Amazon, the importance of its plants and trees to our climate stability and medicine research as well as the threats to it from deforestation. They have also produced some lovely diagrams of the four main layers of the rainforest. They will then edit and publish their report in their topic books.  Keep it up LKS2! 

PE days for Year 3 & Year 4 are Tuesdays & Thursdays 

During the event, our ambassadors took part in a live coding session using small robots, showcasing their problem solving skills to an audience of educators from around the world. They then spoke confidently about Sandfield’s computing curriculum and the technology that supports their learning every day.

The children were outstanding: poised, articulate, and deeply knowledgeable about the tools they use. They represented Sandfield brilliantly and demonstrated exactly how technology empowers them to be the best learners they can be.

UKS2 have been learning all about inheritance in Science. We explored how certain characteristics are passed from parents to their offspring. We learnt that inside every living thing is something called DNA - a special set of instructions that makes us who we are. These are broken into smaller pieces called genes, which help decide things like eye colour.  To make the lesson more fun, we took part in a “Guess the Baby Photo” game - the children took a while to guess Mrs Grant and Mrs Howard!
