I loved how you had a discussion with students about why do certain things, I think it helps underline the importance for students. I think a lot of time students always want a "why" and don't always get it. For me I feel like this practice of unpacking + sharing that why also helps us successfully implement the routine/strategy. I often fall into the trap of asking questions and expecting only one or two types of answers. That doesn't really give the students room to think independently or contribute alternative perspectives.
