She feels as if her world is ending and the family she has will fall apart.
Classroom use: This book can be used to help students who are dealing with separation in their lives. Another great way to incorporate this into the classroom is to have the students write a letter to the little girl that gives her advice on how to deal with the situation. I would give the example of having one weekend to hang out with both grandma and grandpa.
