Social, physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual and environmental are the six components. With those we recreated a day in our life while connecting the wellness components. Finally, we took a summative on Tuesday/Wednesday about these six wellness components. Those are the things we learned in health this week.

Reported by: Ben Sterneker

In order to learn how to do so, we learned how to play speedball /handball it is similar to ultimate frisbee but uses a ball. Last week everyone took their pretest for push ups, sit ups and the pacer/mile. That is what happened in P.E this week. Reported by: Joe Kessler

In compacted 7th/8th grade math we have been talking about adding and subtracting negative and positive integers. On Monday, we learned about subtracting and adding negative fractions and decimals. On Tuesday and Wednesday we reviewed for our summative which was on Friday September 2.We made foldables, did problems, and graded other classmates problems. We will not be doing much in our Thursday and Friday classes because of the summative. I hope you’re all caught up in 7th/8th compacted math.

In Language Arts we have been learning about juxtaposition. To help us learn, Mr. Acton showed us two videos; one a Nike commercial and the other “Let’s be Still”; a slow music video that tells you to stop for a moment and just be still. We did a seminar where we made a circle and everybody shared their thoughts about the videos. We also got our 90 minute reading homework that parents need to sign off for so keep that in mind. This is what’s been going on in Language Arts. Reported by: Luke Clark Moody

The big idea of this quarter is to personalize your art. This week our goal is to learn about patterns and using them in art. Last week we started creating different patterns that would be used in our pattern project. Mr. Sauer challenged us to think outside the box and come up with things we hadn’t seen before. On Monday, we finished 20 patterns for ideas to be used on our project. On Tuesday, we traced our hand and drew palmar creases; a.k.a the lines on your hands. The following day we drew patterns on the hands we had drawn. We also went back and added details to our hands to make them look more realistic. Thursday and Friday we worked on adding to our patterns in Sharpie and color. I hope you enjoyed reading about our Art class this week.

Reported by: Abbie Baxter

This is the hand drawing we are working on.

For science this week the 7th grade is learning about watersheds! In class on Tuesday and Wednesday we learned that every piece of land is part of a watershed. To prove that, classes went outside and walked down the hill on Oakland Ave, learning about the shape of the land and how it would be affected by the rain. After the walk, we headed back to the science room. Then we were split into pairs and did a lab where we had trays and placed objects in them such as cotton balls, dixie cups, styrofoam balls, and other objects that could represent the land. We covered the top with saran wrap so the tray would replicate a region of land. We poured water on the saran to see where watersheds were created. On Thursday and Friday we took the MAP test and a pre-test and that basically wrapped up this week of science.
Reported by: Sophie Andrew

This is the lab where we made watersheds.
