After finishing module 2 I tried to use the tablet with one of my students with special needs. The pupil saw a short animated movie for 7 min. After that I asked questions about what he had seen, I realized that it was a good and efficient way for him to follow and have an interest in answering. It is also a good way to develop expression. As a special education teacher, I have been using the computer and various games, text and communication programs that I think fit my students for several years.
In Portugal there is an official service that evaluates and indicates the appropriate computers and programs for students and the Ministry of Education has a resource center that provides the manuals and other resources to use.
Lately, students prefer to use IPad as being lighter and less "different" since (especially teenagers) do not like to be in the classroom.
The next step will be to extend these resources to ALL.

Since the beginning of the month of October I have changed my class arrangement, now they are in groups of 5 or 6 students, there is alwalys a free chair where I can sit down and be closer to them. They love it.
I have also made a huge list of all the app that all the teachers in this group use in their lessons and I have started to analyse them. The first one has been Wiser me, I have prepared something for today, we'll see how it works. I'll let you know.

When we repeat a sample, we often use different techniques to link everything we have learned, from solving work sheets, thematic visual artwork, presentation at power point and games. In this way, all the students in the class succeed in a fun and easy way to determine the material. Students show particular interest in computer work and therefore ICT is excellent for working with students because it offers many opportunities.

I think flexibily in the classroom, as UDL promotes, is very important. From the previous module, I would use the first thing I read "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn" (Ignacio Estrada). Accessibility of material is really useful and technology is really helpful. So I would use all the useful applications but first of all I would try to create an environment enjoyable, meaningful and really inclusive. I believe UDL is the most inclusive method to use and I would like to have more ICT resources available. Unfortunately, most schools have their backs turned on ICT and are not open nor inclined to make an effort into incorporating them and making good use of them. Moreover, the majority of schools are organized as they were when education wasn't yet inclusive. Last week I have already introduced to my students app Padlet. I find it very useful for developing cooperation among students, and I see here also a good opportunity to include my SEN student, because he likes technology, and he likes to use it. Beside that I made a list of another apps which I plan to try, for example adobe spark - to support students creativity with pictures and short videos. Very interesting is also Tellagami for voice recording - to engage students to speak more in foreign language by using interesting tool. And of course, main challenge is to use UDL even more than so far, it is beneficial for all students.

First and foremost I would like to make use of UDL because it seems to offer so much to all learners as well as allow for the creation of a classroom atmosphere that will accommodate diverse learners and yet provide them with the opportunity to fulfill their potential and pursue their interests. I think it's important that teachers engage students to work in groups in a collaborative way. Learning with equals is better than with teachers so I think that the support to SEN students shouldn't be only special teachers, students should learn to deal and help SEN colleagues in academic tasks and socializing.
We have to adapt materials, contents, evaluations and look for the real interests of the students: give them and their families a voice to express wishes and needs.
ICT is an important tool but teaching mentality must change also. We must understand that there is a place for everyone in the world and in class too!

I have got a student with Autism and I want him to be more engaged in the activities as much as his level of attention lets him. As I am a special education teacher I use individual startegies all the time. But I assume I could use technology more often, and I'll try to do so. Why? Because i teach secondary school level students and technology in everyday life is a reality, not an option. So if I want to prepare students to face a better future I have to teach them how to use new technologies and social networks in a proper, constructive and safe way.

In my teaching experiences I often used techinques and tools introduced in Module 2.
I think teachers have to find new ideas and to study to reach goals.
I believe that teacher’s instruction can greatly impact a student’s ability to learn, engage, to reach their highest potential.
But in education it is wery important a consensus among teaching staff about the specific learning needs of the different children in the classroom. Teachers can offer a setting very useful to improve engagement and relationship skills. interacting with flexible content that doesn't depend on a single sense like sight, hearing, movement.

Teachers have to show different ways of customizing informations (auditory and visual setting) to optimize skills and improve reflection

To help students with disabilities is useful to provide information with multiple representation and in a format that will allow for adjustability by the user (e.g., text that can be enlarged, sounds that can be amplified). This kind of learning allows students to make connections within, as well as between, concepts.

Using learning design and, above all, the idea of community and collaborative learning it is possible to improve talents and interests and to give to students a good perceptions of problems or informations. With these methods students can emphasize the role of process rather than content, optimizing skills and authenticity in the learning and to improve individual choice and autonomy.
