Today she is State Councilor and  she has became an icon of peace all over the world.

Aung San Suu Kyi,the Lady,come la chiama il suo popolo,è una donna esile,ma di rilevante coraggio,personalità e intelligenza.Leader di un movimento non violento, la Lega Nazionale per la Democrazia,è diventata il simbolo dell'opposizione al regime di una feroce dittatura militare e si è battuta per difendere i diritti umani nel suo paese,la Birmania,una perla del Sudest asiatico.E' stata costretta per molti anni all'arresto domiciliare nella sua casa-prigione sul lago Inya, sorvegliata  giorno e notte dai soldati del regime. Si è sempre rifiutata di lasciare il suo paese per il timore che  non le avrebbero mai più permesso di farvi ritorno.Insignita del Premio Nobel nel 1991,spese tutti i soldi nella costruzione di scuole e ospedali per il suo amato popolo.Nel 2015,all'età di 60 anni,vinse le elezioni,le prime libere dal colpo di stato del 1962, e oggi è Consigliere di Stato. In tutto il mondo Aung San Suu Kyi è considerata un'icona di PACE.

She was the first Portuguese woman to practice medicine and to do a surgery at the S. José Hospital, in Lisbon. 
She was a defender of women's rights and because she was a widow and a mother she manage to be considered the «head of the family» and she voted in the elections of May 1911. For this matter, the law was changed in the following year to prevent similar cases of women being able to vote.

She always was interested in the defence of women, criminal reform and the workers' cause.
In 1869 he published La mujer del porvenir, an essay written in 1861.
