I wanted to make a mural about gender identity and how we separate each other based off of gender. The Chains are in place to symbolize the impact of society and the gender binary, it’s ripping apart and disfiguring  the two figures (one being stereotypically feminine/ “female” and the other being stereotypically masculine/ “man”) and the inside shows the strands connection between them and the connection between us as people and symbolizes us reaching out to to each other.

I picked here because this is where the Kaleidoscope youth center is and is a place orientation specific towards lgbtq+ people and accepting them when others won’t.
